Chilling at 147 rest area inside Indiana. Pulled in at quarter of 3 and had to settle for the exit ramp.Woke up at 805 little chillys as I did not idle, but sure have idled this morning. The new ECUADORIAN COWBOY cannot stay cold!! Pulled into a spot closer to the bathroom as I forgot to take an empty GATORADE bottle with me. Yeah in this truck, I wouldn't be ashamed to lower my standards. And it's raining here. Enjoying my maiden voyage so far. Nice run to start my solo gig. Didn't have to go to Sabra either. Yard hook and go. Would have left earlier, but the ABS light was on so the shop had it over three hours. At least the governor is untouched. YIPPEE. This truck is loud. I expect some hearing loss and brain damage to occur, but other than that, I can live with the urine yellow color. I once had a 1981 Toyota Tercel the same color. The two NO LOT LIZARDS cartoon stickers on the corner door Windows are comical as are the skull stickers on the sleeper window. The ECUADORIAN COWBOY stenciled on the door tops it off. Had to clean the trash out of it though, and there is no mattress on the top bunk, and the bottom mattress looks like the former Cowboy kept busy. Threw a sheet over it. Bill said it was a temporary truck. I'm fine for now. Later Comrades.

George's truck does not have bunk heaters. I can't imagine that he slept without letting the engine idle for at least some heat!

I can honestly say that I felt embarassed when George told me what truck Bill gave him. I was in shock. I almost asked safety to pee test Bill. Were supposed to take delivery any day of 30 new Volvos. More than likely teams will trade out and get those as their higher mileage trucks will revert to solo trucks.

So after Pburg messed up the load and then reworked it I finally got going and left the yard at 2215. Got just north of Baltimore and Bo called. Was it mercy??? Nope. When I got to Brooklyn at 0430 i had to drop in the bullpen and hook another drivers trailer. He was out of hours and had a stop in Edison still on his 2 stopper. So at least i didnt have to wait so i turned and hightailed out. This BH in Edison is nice and big with parking. My 14 ran out while waiting to be unloaded. Taking my 10 here. Brett called and sorted out all the swaps and trl numbers then gave me a dhd move back. Im not in a hurry as i plan on going home when i get back. Hometime! But if i get back too early it could be bad. Need to hide somewhere!

Went to Carneys pt and grabbed a shower. Killed one hour and let the traffic ease in DC. Talked to the Ecuadorian Cowboy about his first outing. George got where he needed to when he needed too. All good. Great chat with Johnboy last night and I was at the 104. Decided to make sure my clock was completely shot before i got to the yard. Rolled in at 6am with 1hr left on 14. Success!!
I just wanted to say it was an honor and a priveledge to chat with DT at his desk downstairs today. unfortuately it was me explaining Bridge Law to HIM!!! I even wrote it down for him. Drew a picture too!! Wow. No wonder our day drivers leave us to scale out crappy loaded/overloaded trailers off the yard. Amazing.
Forgot to mention the exploits of stupid 4wheeler driver wed night. 95N was reduced down to one lane from 4 right at White Marsh MD. Signs for miles saying merge MORON! I was doing 57 mph and this missing link pulls out to pass me and mangles about four road barrels! Ran slap into them! I heard it before I saw it! I have to admit I laughed my rear off once I saw this genius regain control and not try to do a Smokey and the Bandit underneath my trailer!!gntorres61, JohnBoy and jungHo Thank this. -
Well looks like Im headed 450 miles to Edisto Beach, SC. Tim was working this weekend and got me preplanned off hometime like I asked. Tim and I talked and he is going to keep me on his dispatch board while I am solo instead of flopping me back over to Brett. I said great either way as long as they realize I am classified Solo OTR and can go anywhere. I train the Northeast so when not training a student, the can send me out in other directions for a welcome change of scenery. Although the $ is much nicer up in the NE, i dont necessarily need the practice up there!!!
I pick up a stage 1 student next Monday. He is Kurtis Jones's son in law. Scott said I will run him the first few weeks down South in easier situations then up North after that. My truck, my rules, his apprenticeship. Thats the deal I told Scott. Of course Im not stupid and realize whose ear he has but to do anything less would be to compromise my integrity. That isnt going to happen on my watch. He has to earn his spurs like everyone of us had to. End of story.jungHo Thanks this. -
He got assigned a yellow truck? I thought Abilene had only green trucks?
