Abilene Experience

Today was hectic. Sat with Tim and ran his boards today. Swaps, drivers late, overweight, 50+ phonecalls. Emails out the wazoo. Saw YardDart in his Cowboys tshirt...threw up in my mouth a bit. I get 10-15 drivers Monday.

im immune to Superbowl losses. Ive been a fan since my Dad brought me back a John Elway jersey from Denver in 1984.

 

Soooo that explains this years Superbowl performance!

 

I am soooo sunburnt. I guess i really can be called a redneck now. Literally. My daughter, who turned 9 today had a weekend fastpitch softball tournament. Double elimination. 7 hrs yesterday and 10 hrs today. They finished second. I also found a new place to live. It wasnt a priority where I was before. No need to pay rent for a place I would see 4 days a month. Now That I am a desk jockey, I needed out!!!i went and hung out a bit with 2 driver technicians from my old company VAE. Really loved that job!!! I left there to be an ops mgr a year before I came to Abilene. One of them is a divorcee like me and we used to room together at conventions. It buys me some time to find a property that I desire instead of rushing through a decision. It feels weird waking up in the same place everyday. I miss my truck. But I wanted the opportunity to move up in the company and I missed my daughter WAY more. Just to see her joy makes it all worthwhile.

Oh and George.. If you weren't a "BIRDS" fan, I would be derogatory about the Niners. So your half okay in my book!!

 

Wow....yesterday was hectic. You would not believe how much rolling chair traffic I had to fight through!!!
i started running John's old driver boards and found out that not everyone thinks alike or in some cases, thinks at all... Had one driver call in to ask whats next...i pulled him up and said hmmm....I show you having to make a delivery in 20 minutes. He said yes I am here at the dock being unloaded. Silence. I played nice and asked him if there was something he needed to do. He said no. So I asked him forget something? No he says. Really!?!? Qualcomm!!!! He apologized profusely about his booboo and said way to make an impression on his new FM. I wasnt mad nor did I get smart with him. Just an example.
