Have about $75 on you. They take USD. Going in through Detroit you pay a toll on weight. Depends where you come out how much it costs. Niagra $12 but takes some time as you have to park and go in and pay since they took the registers out of the customs booths.

Well I went thru Port Huron/Sarnia and it was going swimmingly until the scale. Mind you that I have 1 pallet weighing 600lbs and nothing else on board. So I pull up and he asks for my Ontario ppwk so I pull my freshly updated ( by the safety dept) permit book and pull out the Ontario ppwk. Nope not the correct ppwk needed. He takes my permit book and directs me to Lane 1 for a full Ministry or Transportation colonoscopy! Myself and the truck pass. I will give it to them they were thorough. I wait and hour and then I saw the two of them put the tape measure on the trailer....8centimeters too much overhang....$110 for the permit and $390 for the 8cm=$500 even. While I was there they put a guy out of svc for 72hrs for a 30min paper log discrepancy.
Talked to you know who and he was less than happy with Canada...said hed take care of the fines.
if not that was my first and last trip up there EH?! I sure as heck am not paying anything. Just wont go back to Canada ever! -
What overhang are you talking about?

Trailer to rear axle of tandems...slid 8cm too far forward...California in reverse

I had them slid all the way forward, so they said the rear overhang of the trailer was 8cm too much... So basically one hole. When it became light out I paid attention to the other trucks on the road and they were set about midway. Lesson learned... I keep thinking of that sign in dispatch about "hired to drive in all 48states..." I will still go up there but i am not paying any fine! Did i have a brainfart or maybe misplaced my Canadian FMCSA bible? I wonder if its red like their flag! I agree JB! Its all around safer for everyone. I am thankful that my gps auto calculated kmh to mph for me.

Well i overnited at the shipper in Dallas PA and got up and battle snow and ice all the way down 81 to about Bridgewater then delivered in Dublin. Picked up the worst trailer in our fleet 6298 and thankfully dumped that heap in Wytheville and hooked a load to Mountain Top. Drove up to the Pilot in Staunton...solid 610 mile day. Talked to my student and he will come aboard thursday instead of tomorrow. Hoping the weather holds...funny my 8yr old daughter asked me what Canadians look like!
Everyone be safe out thererunningman0661 Thanks this. -
Sitting up here at Mountain Top PA looking out over the ice and snow covered hills and valleys. Awesome view. Dropped my trailer and hooked to an empty. Talked to Tim thru QC for first time. Introduced himself and is trying to find me a load to get me back so I can pick up Spencer my trainee. He will be with me 3mos as a second stage recruit. I just hope its not Purina in Mechanicsburg... I have sat twice in the dock no less than four hours to get loaded... And i mean sat backed into a door with a pallet or two every 30 mins being loaded...broker load... Hope eveyone is doing well out there!
YardDart Thanks this.
