Getting fuel will be the problem.

8 shiny new team volvos parked out front today (another 12 rumored to arrive), which means newer trucks will be filtering down. Anyone due a truck upgrade?. There are lots of things I don't like about the freightliner, but I think I've grown attached to the old girl. Not sure I would want to change if I was offered something newer.

I wouldn't think so, but perhaps maybe noticed in passing. No pun intended.
mitrucker Thanks this. -
Well, the delivery to the grocery store being built in the apartment building was pretty uneventful. We eventually got a message from dispatch giving us two contact phone numbers for the contractors on-site. I called 'em the day before to make sure we were on the same page.
They were kinda surprised when I told 'em my load assignment said not to be there until 10:00am. They said there were six trucks due at the site that morning. I speculated that dispatch had staggered our arrival times so we wouldn't all be jammed up on a cramped residential street/parking area at 8:00am, because I knew one driver had a load assignment time of 9:00am, and another one had a load assignment time of noon. (The BOL said "8am" in all instances.)
The contractor seemed a little vexed by the notion that we wouldn't all be showing up early in the morning, so he asked me "Can you show up at 7:00?" "Sure," I said, figuring that nobody else would be there that early.
Made a phone call on the way there the next morning, and was greeted by contractor dudes in yellow vests flagging me in to the unloading area. No dock, just a notch taken out of the sidewalk and grounds in which I could park parallel. They offloaded me right there using two forklifts per unit. I was done by 8:00am, by which time another Abilene truck had queued up behind me.
From there I got sent to Fresno, where I picked up a load of chocolate syrup. Very secure chocolate syrup, since they've got one of those bolt seals on the door AND a separate seal on the other door.
Chocolate syrup is due in Lebanon, TN by 5:30pm Tuesday. Since I wouldn't make it to Lebanon without taking a 34 somehwere, I parked the truck in Albuquerque and spent a couple days with my dad.
As always, was relieved to see that the truck was still here when I got back. Though spending a couple days in the hot sun had an unpleasant effect on my toll pass thingy: The plastic case is all bent and warped and pulling away from the windshield. That's some quality craftsmanship, right there.
Will be hitting the road here soon, just for a few hours, just so I won't have to drive 20 total hours on Monday and Tuesday.
Will be arriving in Lebanon around the same time that the Irma leftovers also get there, so I expect to be driving in lots of rain.Redtwin and carramrod32 Thank this.
