Today's fun:
-Arrive at receiver. Sign in on sign-in sheet, letting them know I'm there. Get told "We're not sure if we're supposed to unload you or the facility down the road is supposed to unload you. Go wait in your truck and we'll call you."
-Wait over an hour. Go in to find out what the deal is. Discover that they have signed me out on the sign-in sheet, and marked me as having been unloaded and having already gotten my paperwork. Indicating that if I hadn't gone in to check, I woulda just sat there all day.
-Inform them that I haven't been unloaded and I haven't gotten my paperwork and I'm still waiting to find out if I even need to be at this facility.
-"Oh, nobody called you?"
-No you chicken nugget, nobody called me.
-Find out that I'm supposed to be at another facility (not one listed on the BOL) five minutes or so down the road. They hand me a map with handy directions. A printout from google maps.
-I follow the map. I mean, they gave it to me, right? So it must lead me to where they want me to go.
-Wind up in residential area. Because map is wrong.
-Back very slowly out of residential area. Get out of truck. Walk around until I find actual address, in the completely opposite direction. Back truck up some more so I could make a turn.
-Pull into small industrial park. No signs anywhere to indicate which of the dozen or so offices and dock doors is the one I need to be at.
-Make phone call to receiver. After 10 minutes and three transfers, finally get told which door it is.
So that's my entire 3-hour buffer on my 14 gone. Don't think I'm gonna make it back to Richmond tonight.

That sucks. I broke down this morning. Lost my 1800 mile load, towed to dealer, and been here since about 0800 this morning. Check (as I'm writing this) and my truck still hasn't made it into the shop yet. I guess I'll be staying in motel tonight.
Redtwin and Silverdriver Thank this. -
Well, guess I should be thankful that I only have a missing mudflap to deal with. Sorry, @ExtremeUnction and @5speed, that your days are not going well.

If you are. You will be there for day's! -
I was there for over three hours. The following load assignment (which I received before I even got to the receiver) told me to drive to North Bergen, NJ, and pick up a pre-loaded trailer that would be ready by 4:00pm. But thanks to the runaround I got at the receiver, I was poised to hit NYC right around 5:30pm, just in time for rush hour. And no buffer on my clock to let me pull over for a few hours and wait for the traffic to die down.
So I just bulled on through NYC. And traffic was surprisingly light. Like, surprising enough to make me wonder if everyone but me had gotten some kind of memo. Or maybe there had been a zombie apocalypse or something. I basically sailed down I-95 until a few miles away from the GWB.
Got to the shipper around 6:45pm to pick up the pre-loaded trailer, with 2:45 left on my 14. Just enough time to hook up and make it down to the Pilot in Carney's Point where there is always a reserved spot or two open.
Trailer's not ready. Won't be ready until 11:00pm, by which point I will be out of hours.
So I am parked bobtail outside the security gate, and this is where I will spend the night.
I don't believe I will be on time for the 8:00am delivery in South Hill, VA.Last edited: Aug 8, 2018

Truckers need to take care of theirselves better, Jesus.... I know truckers get a bad name and I feel like it's always directed at men. Well, buckle your seatbelts because I have a story for you.
So I'm getting shuttled from the hotel back to the KW dealer. We have to go to Rush truck centers to pickup a lady and her 3 dogs to take back to the hotel.
Where do I start? Ok. So we pull up and their are 12 trash bags laying on the ground beside her truck. That's her stuff. Me, being a gentleman, get out and help load all of her belongings into the van. I've still not seen her. Then here she comes from the service entrance. 3 small dogs, pomeranians I think. Bark, bark, bark constantly. She gets closer. I can tell at this point, I'll need to move to the back of the van, because she's so big, it would be difficult for her to get into the back. So I move into the back.
She gets in....
The smell was so bad the driver rolled all the windows down and we rode like that all the way to the hotel. As I'm sitting behind her I notice her hair. She has long hair. Its matted. It looks like, its plastic, like someone poured glue in her hair. Seriously, I can't make this stuff up.
(Keep reading, I'm saving the best for last) So we finally get back to the hotel. Praise Jesus for clean air again. The van has running boards/steps to help. It's not that high up but still it's there if needed. She goes to get out...
SHE BREAKS THE RUNNING BOARD AND FALLS. Now (deep breath, not laughing) the driver runs around to help her up. Well.... she's wearing jogging pants. The fall must have...uhhh.... caused pressure on her insides as she has no.2, on herself. I just put my head down and stay quiet. The driver helps her in. I just sit there alone, replaying the events in my head, laughing a little bit this time. Finally after about 10 mins the driver comes back and shuttles me to the KW dealer.
I'm not making fun of that driver, well maybe a little, but she's needs help. Like mentally. How could you let yourself go so long without bathing, that your hair get matted. And, those poor dogs. I'd hate to see the inside of her truck.
