Just got off the phone a little bit ago with my first student. Sounds like he wants to learn and maybe has a good head on his shoulders. He is also a brand new rookie. Non smoker though. Mommy6 should be happy. Might still try to kick the habbit

Who was the lucky Abilene driver that got to hang out at the Mall of America yesterday? Saw the Volvo sitting in "Trucker's Row"...hope they didn't spend all their money!

Wasn't me, I get to spend my day in Laredo. I can't believe this is still considered Texas. It's been 25 years since the last time I was here, it's changed quite a bit...it's gotten worse.
Lonesome, DevilDog79 and bigred81 Thank this. -
To be honest am scare. New rookie and their been to many accidents with rookie drivers thinking they know it all. These rookie dont care about their trainer they think they got it so now I will be on edge bc am scare something will happen to yoda while he training. It my fear everything he goes out on the road and he is solo.

I can understand that completely. When I started at C R England many years ago, and was only there very briefly..lol, I had a great trainer named Jerry Hefner. I guess Jerry was about 50 or so then but the night he picked me up at England Hdqs in Salt Lake City it was 1 am and his last trainee had refused to drive his shift coming in. So Jerry had just come back from Ohio and was doing a turnaround load with a new trainee that he had never met but was so exhausted that he could only drive until we got out of Salt Lake City. Then he looked me in the eye and asked me if I knew what I was doing so he could get some bunk time...I told him, "Jerry I have a hell of a lot to learn but yes I can put this truck in gear and pull it down the Interstate while you sleep. He woke up several times, had to be a hell of a leap of faith or desperation..lol, just to check on me like when I entered the first weigh station n Wyoming and all the way you have to pull around and walk in with your paperwork. He talked me through that and grabbed another couple of hours....lol. But he didnt know that I had driven back in the late 70's, had been a state trooper, a Marine, and was mature enough not to be stupid or do anything stupid. Shook him up a little when I got off once to get something to drink because I was so #### thirsty...he wasnt happy but he understood....lol

Army recruit training is everywhere depending on MOS. Infantry, jump and ranger school is at Benning (Columbus, GA). DD214? Isn't that some Devil Dog weapon? LOL. Got one guy at my wife's work that is a habitual liar and told my wife I couldn't have the black belts I do and the quals I had in my lifetime. I dropped a copy of my 214 and other certs off at her office and told him to shut it...lol. Said he did jump school at Ft McCoy, WI and I laughed since I did some cold weather training there in 87 and they only did a version of jump school there way before his time. Wife said he bragged (no pun intended) of Bragg and I told her to ask one question. Had he ever been to Rick's on "L" St and see what he said. Then I told her what street it was really on before it relocated.DevilDog79 Thanks this.
