You could have asked for a Volvo, McDaddy. Or in 3-4 years you can ask for one then.

Now, if I can convince my company to hire from VA, I am coming for the rest of you.

Hey guys, kidding about my last post. I am not trying to torpedo Abilene. I have no ill will and no revenge motive. Six years ago, Mr. Jenkins saw fit to fire me because, in essence, I was greener than the trucks and it was his right to do so. I was heartbroken at the time to get canned because Abilene was an excellent company when it was ran by the Jones brothers. When they sold, it took a somewhat predictable downward trajectory. It pains me to see you all suffer because of this (except Johnboy-he is financially bulletproof and near retirement anyway). I consider you all on this blog my friends. Thats why I am throwing a life raft to whomever is interested in FCC. God Bless Abilene Motor Company. Wish, for your sake, the Jones would buy it back. You know what they say, wish in one hand.......s__t in the other.

If they hired down by me, I’d have my bags packed and a.s.s. in a rental car. Then I can really get a feeling of a caring company that’s promoting “quality of life”.

    Lonesome and gntorres61 Thank this.

    Wow. Now that’s a revelation.

Sounds like the “Great Knight Way” isn’t so great after all. Yikes!!!!!

Not to rain any sunshine on this parade of doom and gloom, but I'm alright and (barring some unforeseen occurrence) not in any danger of going anywhere. My new DM has actually been pretty good about communication and about keeping me rolling. Freight is still iffy on the weekends, but we're in a massive recession thanks to 1/3rd of the country not working for 2 months, so I'm prepared to cut them some slack.

Currently sitting at the TA in Yukon, OK. I have vacation starting Friday and was asked to pick up the Volvo Reno load from West Memphis this morning, with a firm promise that I would be swapped and routed back east in time to start my vacation (because there's no way I would make it back in time from Reno).

I'm running on recap and I did the math, I can drive about 5 hours and change tomorrow before I pass the "too far away from Richmond to make it back home by Thursday before I run out of hours" mark. And if I drive that far, they'll have to run me straight back to the yard. Won't have any wiggle room to deliver anyplace that's not directly on my way back. So some phone calls will be made in the AM.

I am a classic introvert. That doesn't mean I'm quiet or shy. I'm pretty #### gregarious and outgoing for an introvert. It just means I don't really have a strong need for interpersonal interaction and am pretty happy to be by myself most of the time. As such I am very good about keeping myself entertained here in this green 6-by-6-foot box.

But apparently even I have my limits. I've been out on the road since March 6th, so yesterday was a full three months in the truck without hometime. It's taken three months, but I finally have developed cabin fever to the point where I'm gonna be taking 10 days off. Gonna see my kids for the first time in 3 months, and after that my daughter will be riding in the truck with me for a month or so.. Should be fun.

Just a bunch of little things that have added up to where I am today. My miles are great. My earnings are right where they need to be, even with the COVID-19. The 18% I lost in my 401K since January 1 has come back to being down only 2%.

My issues are all the DM’s I’ve had, especially the last year. My new DM, although learning the system, needs his hand held. My longevity raise put on hold because of said virus, piss poor communication, and constant changes on a daily basis. Maybe these are trifle things, but it’s all adding up. I have always said, if they don’t run me off, I’ll retire here. I have also said very vehemently that this is not the same company that I hired on with in April of ‘13. For a training company, they’re great, but that’s it. I’m just glad my check is there and is always correct every 2 weeks.
