Abilene Motor Express....A New Place To Call Home

Got out the shop and got a Walmart load to Tobyhanna, Pa for a drop today. Then the Wegman’s load that don’t pickup til 1600 tomorrow and drops Monday by 12 in Ashland. Parked at the TA express that used to be a private pilot in Pine Grove, Pa off exit 100 on 81. Looks nicer now that TA bought it. Not marked with signs so the lot is darn near empty.

 

Taking a reset up in Ft.Wayne,In,than I pu Monday morning headed to Valdosta, Ga.

Dropped the wegman’s this morning and like every other time I go there they have no clue about dropping these loads we bring in there. Got sent to HP for 0300 lul at amazon tomorrow in Charlotte but that isn’t happening since I had to drag the trailer to the yard for a bad tire and two lights burned up and melted. I hate the hook and go drivers that check nothing….waiting to see what they want to do.

 

Been my day for pre-loaded trailers to fall through.

Got to a shipper in Canton, NC that was supposed to have a pre-loaded trailer, and didn't. Not only did they not have the pre-load, they had no loaded Abilene trailers, and none planned for the next two days. Apparently they had some kind of production issue and were behind by a couple of days.

Got routed to Gatorade Wythville instead, to pick up another pre-load, and it also isn't ready. But at least this one has the advantage that they are, in fact, in the process of loading it, though who knows how long it will take. Been here over an hour already, and it is looking very much like they will not finish in time for me to make on-time delivery, since I won't have the hours.

Fortunately, the receiver is literally next door to our Richmond terminal, and they're not fussy about appointment times.

 

On vacation this week, had a great week,everybody be safe.

 

Ran one of them Smyrna walmart loads Friday night, better to run up there at night traffic wise. Loaded paper rolls yesterday for a lul in WI tomorrow. Ran 300 across from 301, 33 ton weight limit on the DE portion but them loads are usually light enough to be under 33 tons. Cop sitting in that last small town seems to be more concerned about speeding than weight limit though.

 

Came off vacation to a Sc to TN load,once I'm unloaded I'll be headed somewhere,I haven't been in about 4 hrs Reno,safe travels everybody.

 

Did one of them Smyrna loads Friday night into Sat., 95/495 side of DC got shutdown that night due to a motorcycle accident. Did a 34 til Monday then a short run off the yard to Staunton and back then liveloaded yesterday morning at Aleris down the road from the yard to Aleris in Asheville, OH this morning. Truck finally fixed after three weeks and the only load going to Richmond delivers tonight at 2145 in Manassas. Hop back into my truck in the morning and hopefully no more issues for a while.

 

Ain't had much to say lately. Been pretty routine. Delivered to Gatorade Indy today for the first time in forever. I can remember the salad days of the Gatorade Loop where I could make 2-3 trips in a row from Wytheville to Indy and back. 9101 Orly Drive was like a second home. Just don't get out there hardly at all anymore, though.

They followed that up with a pickup in Battle Creek, MI. Load assignment said it's a live load any time today, but on my previous trip to the same shipper, the shipper told me that they don't live-load Abilene. It's all pre-loads. So I'll get there tomorrow to grab it.

Delivers south of Lexington, KY at 10:00pm tomorrow night. Gonna see if they'll take me early though. Hardly any place to park around Lexington at the best of times, much less after 10:00pm.
