What did they list as the reason for the 1 year certification? Did they list BMI as the reason, or some medication?

Strictly my bmi. I learned on the physical before this one to say I take zero meds.. because then they want letters from your Dr's etc.

    Crankyazz and everyone else.

DO NOT LIE TO THE DOT MEDICAL EXAMINER.

Providing inaccurate or intentionally misleading information on the DOT medical examiner form or when asked is a Class I Federal felony.

The problem is if you ever have a major accident even if it is not your fault all of your medical records will be subpoenaed.

There are drivers serving jail time as a result of accidents that probably un preventable. But when the medical examiner falsification came out....

Getting letters from the prescribing physician and treatment details for the DOT medical examiner is part of the process. Deal with it.

This is true and really all the DOT wants is a note from the prescribing Dr. that you are ok to drive. 99.9% your Dr. will ok that. Is it a hassle, YES but in the end far better than the risk involved.

I have an update on my better half truck driver. Last week he went back to the Dr. at the sleep lab (follow up) and the Dr. has decided/diagnosed that he is CPAP intolerant. Likely due to his borderline condition. He also has just about every negative side effect as a result of being forced to comply with it's use. They have decided to fit him with a MAD (mandibular advancement device) and redo the sleep study.
I will say this I am very happy this is happening. I have watched this poor man deteriorate over the last 2 months due to lack of sleep. It's a very hard thing to watch someone you love go through this, even harder for the individual being forced to endure in order to keep his/her job. Sleep study is scheduled for this week. I will post the results.

Well we have our results, In the 6 hours of his sleep study he had 0 episodes. That was with out the MAD(mandibular advancement device.) He is now off that infernal machine. He had a good Dr. to start. This retest confirmed what we already knew. He never had apnea to the point of needing this machine.
Things to keep in mind if you are new to this and are experiencing side effects to the point of misery. Don't ask DEMAND a retest. Do your home work there are ways to pass.

Bumpy, 6 Speed and RACEFAN Thank this.
