    Why would mileage matter?

Your in their truck securing their load, so why shouldn't you get paid for your break? I am sure corporate employees get paid for their break, so what's the difference?

We are talking about the 10 hour break correct? Personally I don't know of any company that pays for a 10 hour break as layover. If you're on a scheduled run the pay hours for that run are set.

We get meal money ($35) for a layover, but no actual pay for the 10 hour break.

I appreciate your earlier reply, as I was sure that some companies pay meal money like you get. I am a little surprised this company doesn't. Probably easy work but not great pay, considering your gone from home 90 hours a week and you might start work at 2 AM.

    How do the lose money?

If it's straight time for the 50 hours a week, the driver would be getting underpaid about $100 a week or $5000 a year based on $20 and hour. If Eagle paid $35 meal money and OT, the extra $10,000 a year would make the job a little more attractive and help keep drivers happy.

I guess you're right. All I know is in 2015 I was home everyday and made 78k. I'm good with that.
