Hello Generation Follower. I see that you are from princeton Indiana. Do you really want to drive? I suggest that you might wnt to check out college if you have not. If you are dead set on driving then there is one company in southern indiana that might hire you. There is a company in otwell called elmer buctah. I would compare them to swift but on a smaller scale. Pay is not that good. I am in no way affiliated with them. I have heard from other drivers in southern indiana that they would hire anyone and have been told to try there myself some number of years ago.

    Best off luck to you.

    1pissedoffdriver Thanks this.

I appreciate the comment. But I have experience. My gpa i drove the farm rigs and other heavy equipment. My dad is 58 years old i have drove with him.We lost all of our stuff in 2002.My dad now works 55 to 65 hours a week hauling coal.He don't go over the road because of his age and my handicap brother. He hasn't went long haul in 10 years. With the economy and our bills.I got responsibilities Fining work other than coal or trucking in the next year or two will take me longer than getting my CDL, and i won't make enough to take the load of my dad.I am not one of the stuck up kids that listen to loud music and bumbs off mom and dad.I got to make money.I know what work is.On top of this my mom i don't talk to anymore is a drugy somewhere and owes me 13000 in child support. My dad needs help or we start losing stuff again. He won't say it but its there.Somebody here has to step up and i am nominated cause of my brother.Oh and i can't work inside cause i can't see my surounding i'll have an attack.WIth all this and everyone being laid off i can't get a job.But i called a local company they said i get my CDL call them back i can work for an independent that they have atleast 75 of.They just can't help me get it themselves.

Don't get discouraged. Hang in there it will work out. It sounds like with your family obligations, you wouldn't want to go over the road and be from your family for long. In today's economy, food delivery is the way to go. People have to eat. If you can try to get in with a bread company, chip company,etc... it will build up your resume for customer relation skills.
The bad news (and the truth) I went from driver to management for a food company out of Michigan. I live in Indiana. We aren't willing (as most companies) to hire anyone with less then two years experience. The reason for this is, the insurance companies kill us on rates. It is a whole different animal on the management side. We were able to still rangle out a .50 raise this year for our drivers when most companies are laying off. All drivers, watch your tickets in your personal vehicles, accidents, etc...
The companies have to save and watch finances just like everybody else. If they see you have tickets or damages, you will be put on the bottom of the barrel.
