Last I checked we have an all volunteer military. You signed up for it. Now I'm not saying I don't appreciate your fighting for our country and the sacrifices you've made but stamping your feet and holding your breath until you get special treatment will not get you anywhere.

I really do want to be a truck driver, I think that separates me from a lot of the other young guys who get into the industry as a last resort.

My dad was a driver and when I went out on the road with him I loved it. I spent extra time at CDL school learning everything I could from the instructors and read articles/watch instructional videos whenever I can.

Unfortunately that doesn't mean anything to a mega carrier, they want to protect their butts by making sure everyone goes through the full training process. I understand why they do it, but it's frustrating when your running team loads and getting next to nothing for pay.

Those were an entirely separate set of dues we paid, and while they do mean something, it's not anything applicable here. New way of life = new dues to pay. Just the way it is.
Of course I'm going to encourage you not to give up, but perhaps working to lower the blood pressure wouldn't be such a bad idea, either.
I hope it works out for you, but I can't promise you that it will.

i went out to plant some elephant ears and a banana tree my gf gave me,plus i am at home so whatever, but i was thinking about a post like yours after i posted on this thread.I can not disagree with you in that the op did volunteer.my opinion differs after that.

I think a vet,any vet for that matter, should be given a bit of special treatment.being a vet did matter and one did receive extra points/treatment. does it no longer? we still have affirmative action unfortunately.do you think race is factored into these megas hiring quotas? I would like to think not but if so,why not do the same for a vet? why not anyway? heck,a vet did actually do something to earn the preferential treatment whereas affirmative action types have a biased slant due to simply being a certain creed/color/abnormal sexual slant/whatever and they fully expect, demand even, special treatment. yes i do think affirmative action goes beyond color in today's environment.

although it may read as if OP is stomping his feet and holding his breath,i am thinking that he is merely venting on this fine forum.

actually 4way,i like your post because it purges thought for me.i know you were not being critical.

Sorry Dude; Tony is right. Been there done that too back in my time. Sucks but nobody gives a flyin' flitter about us when we get back. Least they weren't flyin' flitter AT us like the poor guys coming home from Nam got and they didn't have a choice to go or not. I got diddly squat for all my medals (why do they say win them. We didn't win them. We earned them) and wound up homeless by the Banana River in Cape Canaveral walking up A1A going from business to business begging for a job doing ANYTHING. Finally a fast food joint hired me as a dishwasher darned near to Cocoa Beach. I made the walk every day. Saved some money and bought a bicycle. I just kept taking one little step up and up. Granted, if ya gotta be homeless; the Banana River in FL is a good place to be. Military survival training and starve to death in FL and you kinda deserved it. So much fresh clean water, wild stuff growing and running around to catch it ain't funny. You gotta bootstrap it Dude. Gotta reach down deep and touch that will that kept you going in the s#!+ a WHOLE lot worse than this.

Best of luck and thanks for your service. Just do what ya gotta do til you can do what you want to do and it'll happen for you.

PS. Nice looking Border. My Dan's 7 and too darned smart for his own good sometimes. LOL.

They want you to get a new medical card. So here is what you do: you go to a doctor, get your physical and get a new medical card. I'm sorry it was so hard for you to figure out, but that's how you do it. Glad I could help.
