It's been decades, but I recall a lumper hammering on my sleeper at o dam early in the old Dallas Produce Compound. BOM BOM BOM NEED A LUMPER!?

AND GOOD MORNING TO YOU< HELL NO.

I eliminated lumper problems simply two ways, sleeping 100 miles from destination on a mountain somewhere and... finding a company that hauls expensive things that need NO lumping whatsoever. (McKesson of Memphis...)

I also recall passwording the reefer against the trucker who cannot sleep. I do my best to get to a far corner downwind so to speak and park in certain ways to mask the howl of that thing in high range. It's a lullaby to me but it's a problem with certain drivers who are past sleeping.

I also remember fighting with dispatch to release 60 dam dollars to pay a lumper. That was then, long before I hear of 300 dollar loads.... SHEESH.... when they make it a thousand to unload I'll show up and take 500 cash to do it in 6 hours...

Don't worry about missing the purr of a reefer. They seem to migrate to open decks. Even when there's 100 open parking spots.
