Two different trailers same story. I hook up, turn key on both tractor and trailer icons on dash light up, so I assume ABS works fine. Get pulled over in OH for inspection and both times no ABS light on trailer. And no trailer ABS icon on dash. I unplug pig tail, got power to center prong. No icon with pig tail unplugged either. Swapped trailers couple hours later, got ABS trailer icon, and everything seems ok. Is that truck or just my luck with trailers?

Co workers unplugged the abs light on those trailers , instead of getting them fixed. Should come on then go out . And ome on when brakes are applied, then go out once brakes are released.
-
You didn't pretrip this? What did you expect? All you have to do once you hook up is angle your tractor just a bit, look out your mirror anthem the key on. Light should come in and then go out.
-
The point is that even if lights were unplugged I would get the ABS light on my dashboard. When I was inspected the light wouldn't come at all.
-
If it was unplugged when you pretripped you coulda/shoulda foud it then. Don't rely on that light in your dashboard
-
When I had Freightliners the ABS light would come on when you applied the brakes, this is my second Volvo and it doesn't work that way. Light comes on when you initially turn the key on and then goes out. Guess it's a Volvo thing.

some ABS units have 24N auxilarry power supply (from brake light) and whn you press brake TABS unit restarts and turn Trailre ABS light on. What fault code you can check with trailer ABS system software
-
Just do what our mechanic does and put black tape over it. I'm sure that'll get you through a DOT inspection!
