Not only that, you risk death of freezing to death or heat stroke in the truck passing out.

I dont worry about it. This is why I have prepaid legal. I send in these bs tickets and most of them go away...

Some companies have no idle policies, enforced either by automatic shutdown or electronic spying(via Qualcomm or similar communication links). Some of them have APU's to provide climate control in the cab engine off.
Idling laws and enforcement are literally all over the map. If you read the fine print on most they allow idling at the extremes- below 40 deg F or above 90 deg.
Personal pet peeve: The jerk who leaves his truck running when it is 68 deg F outside in a truckstop or other location where security is not an issue. But he is usually not responsible for the fuel/maintenance costs involved either.

Returning from delivering blood in the middle of the night, I am about to fall asleep athe wheel. So I pull off the interstate and sleep.
Several warm blankets allow me to sleep without running the engine and exposing myself to carbon monoxide poisoning.

Hope thatruckers can do the same.

Does Colorado ALLOW idling because the temperatures in the mountains can get so cold?
I'd even be concerned that a Diesel engine might get too cold to start. (Or do they hold heat well?)

    Thank you.

First off, what areas are 100 deg at night?

i've only had to idle during the summer once at night---this was i think in/near Naples Florida.

Its not always the temperature that is the problem. High humidity can make 80 degrees feel horrible...

just to add a bit of info, you can run the engine without causing any damage to it as long as the RPM are around the 1200 RPM. anything less than 1200RPM and you risk glazing, etc

    Robert Gift Thanks this.
