AC compressors actually exploding?

Dead compressors or people.killed by compressors?

 

Never actually had one explode but have had several eat themselves up and contaminate the system with black powdered metal. I call this a catastrophic failure which requires the entire system to be flushed and most times replacement of the condensor since you can't get all the contaminants out of it.

Just to ad to the propane comments not sure if your aware but most of the top up cans and freon non licenced people can buy eg. red-tec, dura-cool is infact propane based. As a licensed auto a/c tech put that stuff in your system and if the shop doesn't anayize your system before they evacuate there freon is useless and contaminated lol.
