What do you do when you get no power to the plug itself. As in I put a test light to it and no cigar... I also tried the paperclip truck still nothing.

Put gauges on it and check pressures.
I'm talking actual gauges and not that cheap can crap.
It could be low on freon. Or too much.
Or some other problem if the pressures don't read right.
Expansion valve or compressor. For instance.
If a paper clip kicks it on. It's either a bad switch or not enough freon. It needs at least 50 psi to kick on but that's not enough to blow cold.
Always want to check pressure first. Before diagnosing electrical. Using a paper clip could blow the compressor if there's nothing in the system.
I see a lot of posts trying to diagnose electrical with no clue on freon level. Some will say it's fully charged when it fact. They don't have enough or have too much.
Some will buy a 12 oz. Can and throw the whole thing in. And now they're 10 oz. OVERcharged.Last edited: Sep 3, 2020
