Technically it's not the APU, but the set up they have attached to it. My AC only comes out from underneath my bunk, and as we all know, heat rises and the denser cold air drops to the floor, or in my case, it stays on the floor.

So buy a 20$ 12v fan to recirculate it?

Make sure prior to parking you have your truck cold AF. Your APU should be able to keep up with cooling, especially if you buy a couple of 12v fans as @skallagrime commented. Also, close your middle curtain as well as your front curtains if you have the ability, it'll make keeping the area you're in comfortable easier.
My volvo is blue so soaks up heat nearly as bad as a black truck, and even when the temperatures are over 100 I stay comfortable in the bunk.

How about manipulating the ambient air temp sensor to always show higher?

My disabled dog takes up the area in front of the bunk
Great idea! Do you know where the sensor is on a Freightliner?

    austinmike Thanks this.

The older ones it was in the driver door mirror.

In the 2023 that just got wrecked, I'm pretty sure it was somewhere under the front bumper area.
If I had a tail wind the engine heat would be picked up by the sensor, and if a head wind it would be more accurate.
I used that to my advantage when I could park facing the right direction, depending on if I wanted it to read cooler or hotter.

It doesn't have to actually be in the floor. Anywhere you put it air movement will help. 20240424_210820.jpg

Nice, and certainly a good cause to help deplete the ozone layer, which I hear is repairing itself,,Al.

They put that new fangled stuff in now, it’s not really freeon anymore!

By the way it got results. They keep some compressors in stock at the shop now.

    BillyBobFrank and 201 Thank this.
