Goodmorning the way I understood it was letting in fresh clean air not he exhaust gases but I may be wrong minw 06 acert was running at 800-900 empty and as high as 1000 on a hot day I just had a overhead done and changed out all the vva for new ones and they also found the wiring harness to the water diverter valve in real bad shape so they fixed that and when heading home the egt wouldnt go over 700 but mind u that was empty and only 20miles so i am hoping that will help

Those egt's mirror what mines doing now. I hope that solved your problem, please let me know how its doing under load. As for me I'm. Kinda doing the same thing except rather than spend money on replacing the VVA's I figure just do away with them and get a stage one PDI tune while its in the shop. Wrong or right at least I'll get a lil more power!!

I dont think that pdi tune turns them off even reading some of mr haneys posts he dosent recoment backing them off but making sure they are operational i run the bully dog for about 1.5years big difference in power my vva were original 740000 miles i suspected that they were sticking on the mechanical side that is why i changed them out during the overhead set no extra labour cost the whole set was 600bucks i am headed out to Az on fri so will see

Yes your right the accert pdi tune doesn't turn them off. What they're doing is converting this engine to a 6nz. They'll change out the ecm, cam gear some sensors and wiring harness and back off the vva's. The only difference will be the twin turbos. My thoughts are this should give the best all around torque, but we'll see.

Well a preliminary quote was 5700 but you know how that goes. Once they get into it there could be some other issues, the trucks got 786xxx miles. Lord willing I won't have to take out a2nd mortgage

i just did mine you also have to change the cam wire harness, jake, rocker holddown bolts and exhaust and injector rockers and a few other things to (truly) convert back to a 6nz.
