Very understandable, screams. Easy to see how you got overwhelmed in that situation, and many things (like difficulty hooking & sliding the tandems) could have been made into a simple process with the proper training. Only five days training is simply outrageous. Sorry to see their neglect cost you an accident.
Sure, you are the one driving and responsible, but I'm sure this wouldn't have happened with proper adequate training period, which you never received.
Dust your britches off and take control of everything from this point forward.
I can tell by your words that you are a very conscientious driver, and most likely outside of this panic induced accident, will probably make a far better driver than most other newcomers.screams, DRVNDRVR, luvtotruck and 1 other person Thank this. -
I know a guy who had an awesome trainer and still in his 1st month took his truck under a bridge!! And the company kept him..... 2 months later he backed over a car at a stop light.... And they still kept him!! Keep your chin up. You will find something Hun! Good luck

Oh, and if it helps your decision any, team driving is strictly prohibited here at Maverick except in extreme emergency circumstances. All trainers are required to be in the passenger seat while the student drives.

And KW, your avatar is freaking hilarious. I had to look at it closer to see what it said and I spit tea all over my iPad.blairandgretchen and KW Cajun Thank this. -
The crap I've done and nobody ever found out....
Well what do this people expect? It's August 1st and closest I've ever been to a tractor trailer was passing one on the highway, they send me to "trucking school" for 4 weeks and I get my CDL, they send me with a "trainer" for three weeks and all of the sudden I'm good enough to live in a 70 foot rig 24/7 and everything will be alright? specially if you end up in a crowded area where the streets have been the same width since 1934. Yeah, makes all perfect sense. On my first pickup I was terrified, got lost twice and almost hit a pole backing up. It's insane how quickly one can go from never driven a truck to being on your own in the open road, it's ridiculous this can be done.Stuka, blairandgretchen, KW Cajun and 1 other person Thank this. -
blairandgretchen Thanks this.

These mega-carriers that do the "team training" and have the trainer sleeping while the student is driving is pure BS.
Those companies are only looking for the $$ by keeping the truck rolling, instead of caring one iota how much "training" the student driver is getting.screams, DRVNDRVR, blairandgretchen and 1 other person Thank this. -
