I have to agree with Wore out on this one. You fully admitted that it was your fault, gave some possible contributing factors and want to move forward. Like I said before just keep your head up and start looking around for new employment. As to the "I've never" crowd, from my experience the ones who yell the loudest have most likely done the worst. This is the internet and you can be anything or anyone you want to be here, an arm chair Navy Seal or Green Beret even though you couldn't qualify to fire a cap gun.
Accident on my third day driving!

TRUCKERS DAILY FAIL
You're not the first, and won't be the last to go oops...screams Thanks this. -
5 Days Of Training??? and then they left you out on your own????
-
Sorry this happened. So many wanna make trk driving their life long carreer and the unthinkable happens.I think had you been with trainer longer then 5 days that would have made a huge difference. All I can say is try your best to find a forgiving company and don't give up beause it may be awhile before a company gives you a chance to prove yourself.Deffinately go out with a trainer. You're not ready to go solo. You mentioned you was exhausted, did your company run you ragged? What things would you do differently if given a second chance?
-
Like screams said he thought he was ready to go solo.People don't like something they can speak up or go elsewhere if they feel not enough training.I don't blame the company for letting scremas loose because all screams had to do was say I don't feel im ready to go solo. But it sounds like the company ran screams ragged and for that I do blame the company.
MZdanowicz Thanks this. -
Hey Screams- Don't beat yourself up to much. If you can, go back to the site and and see what you did wrong. Look it over, so you can apply what you have learned. As the old saying goes, "defeat is not bitter, unless you swallow it". I felt like you did when I got bagged for over weight as a co driver twice a week. Co paid fines then, and my orders were to stay at 7000 to we say different. As long as it was not on my record,I obeyed. Mikeluvtotruck and DRVNDRVR Thank this. -
Since then I've dinged a couple trailers a bit running chip truck at night when I first started this gig two years ago.
Now I'm past my three years mark and doing quite well, my skills have evolved and so has my way of thinking things out.
If I've learned one thing it's to keep my cool and take my time.
It never hurts to slow down or stop to check things out and get out and look if you have to.
Better to look like a rookie than to hit something and remove all doubt lol.Last edited: Nov 18, 2013
Big Don, MZdanowicz and luvtotruck Thank this. -
You can say you started your million mile goal a few miles late, Good Luck! I wish you luck! Maybe just maybe I will confess to my first load out! but not in the post!. -
awww come on luvtotruck why not?

well I have continued to slowly lose weight but its because I want to, I have learnt to plan meals, prepare stuff ahead of time etc so im not starving or just running off stress and adrenaline like in the beginning. I do know several who gain instead though which also seems to be normal being a trucker.
