Did I say he wasn't gonna get a hotel? He would've gotten a hotel when he got to where he was going. He was less then 20 miles from his terminal. You guys are acting like he drove in it for miles. No he was in it for a couple miles.

You also listed the company my dad drove for so there you're wrong. They do send drivers out.

And yeah no cops showed up. Why do you not get that?

They do keep records of all calls though. Your fathers lawyer may want those.

There just seems to be a lot of questions that don't really add up. I hope, as a driver, you can see that.

    1. If interstate is shut down, ok, sure maybe drivers even do sleep in lane of travel. But to say it cleared up, they were the 2 at the end of the line, not a single soul was behind them before your dad crashed into them, if there was any traffic behind they all quietly drove around, didn't wake them up? Then they get crashed into and are just like "whatever. I'm going back to bed." ??

    2. If it's a wreck with a 7 mile backup on probably i94, no cops showed up? For sitting there half a day after he had a crash, bad enough it had to be towed away? ??

    3. "He couldn't take pictures because it was dark out and he couldn't see anything" Because we don't all have a phone with a camera on it? There's still plenty of headlights and marker lights to at least take whatever pictures you can, make the best effort with what you got. I'm sure the tow truck driver had a camera probably even took pictures before he hooked up and after he dropped it off, to cover his own butt. Dad never thought to use that if he had no camera of his own?

    4. "There was a tow truck that was sitting behind them and he seen the whole thing" Where was this tow truck sitting? Behind who? In order to witness the whole thing. ??

Also - it isn't dispatch's job to notify a driver the road is closed ahead. It obviously was open when he left the terminal. There is no pointing the finger at dispatch for not notifying a driver on this one. It is an unforseen circumstance, not in the same realm as say leaving out planning to go across 80 in WY these past couple weeks they're having a heck of a time there.

If your company is going to make an insurance claim, and it sounds like they would be considering the damage/need to be towed factor, there has to be a police report your company has to provide insurance with. The carrier needs as much info to give to insurance because they will fight whatever they can to get out of paying. Any seasoned driver should have the idea to take as many pictures as possible, write everything down, including all parties names, companies, equipment #s, time of day road condition, an explanation how the vehicles were and how the accident happened, submit dashcam if available, do his best to limit further pileup by whatever means safely necessary, things like that. Let me guess, there was no dashcam either? How does he sit for half a day before being towed on a roadway busy enough to warrant a 7 mile backup in the first place?

The trucks he crashed into are obviously in need of repair if he hit em hard enough to require being towed from the scene. Those drivers were just like "yeah whatever I don't want to do any paperwork I'll just drive this unit back to the yard and play dumb" ???

It just doesn't pass the smell test. I would hazard a guess your dad messed up somewhere, and is trying to cover his butt, coming up with this elaborate story. I get it, sometimes it's hard to say "I screwed up." The thing is we all do. Some of us don't screw up very often but when we do we screw up royal.

Well, the only one I listed that hasnt gone out of business or been bought out that goes to Fargo is Estes. And at Estes the DRIVER ALWAYS has the option of not going. ALWAYS. All he has to do is say he doesnt feel it is safe. I was on that Fargo run for 6 months, and I know first hand.

Dispatcher would be immediately fired for sending a driver out if he said he didnt feel it was safe or tired. And thats a fact. Ive seen it done. So rather than YOU telling US what your daddy told you, maybe you should consider the age old saying:

You can always tell when a truck driver is lying because their lips are moving.

Ok, so your dads truck had to be towed. This (to me) means the engine wasnt running. Daddy sat in a cold truck for 12 hours and a cop never showed up? Yeah... right. To an accident... thats blocking a freeway... 5 miles from a scale... 4 miles from the state patrol area HQ...

    Ok pal, whatever you say.

Ok listen here you #######. Why would my dad make up the fact a cop didn't show up? If a cop showed up would I be asking the questions I did? Yes the state patrol DID NOT show up. The tow truck he sat in has a report saying that! Why would my dad make it up that a cop didn't show up? I talked to my dad later that morning like 6 or 7 and the cops still weren't there.

And it wasn't just my dad that was running. There was another driver that ran to. And when he left the weather was not bad and the weather came way earlier then they predicted. I also know because I drive for a living to. I know how these ltl companies are also. Estes has given drivers a point for not coming and trying and my dad does turn around when it gets bad and my dad would've to but there was no where to. The next exit was over 6 miles away

These ltl companies need to be held accountable for their action during winter times. I've seen fedex exxpres flipped over in Mauston WI on exit 69, their terminal. Driver couldn't even get on freeway before crashing. Stay Home, 300 bucks ain't worth it. It's not that hard to predict weather. Hopefully you learned your lesson.
