A company or a DP'r does not have to say run illegal for you to see a noticeable dent in your miles when you say the 2 wrong words to them at your avg refer hauler, "I Can't".
You are dependent on the company for any income and you can bet will not be on the list for the good loads the load planner has if you keep saying I can't do you that favor to make your job easier.
Of coarse it's not company policy for you to drive illegal and the DP who asks a driver to drive illegal are probably new to the ways of coercing the driver without any record of it and got fired for not being more subtle. They could simple squeeze your miles everytime you complain about that hot load not fitting your schedule. Sooner or later they will get rid of a slacker who does not tow the line by either making life miserable or just plain starving you out.
For the O/O why would you need to log illegal? probably have a poor company solo p&ding most of your loads for you so you can drop and hook and maximize your income at their expense. .

Sick of the games,never getting home on time,and being 600 miled to death..
I have only been here about 2 years , when I first came here they were great..It's pretty much sucked hardcore for the last 6-8 months..
They never get you home on time..The communication really suck, no one answers a phone,and they never return your calls. Just tonight even, I have been waiting over 5 hours for a response from night dispatch...It's just a lame company..
You may get 2,200,-3,000 miles a week if your lucky, bumping 3-4 docks a week..They like to overnight you a lot..Good times..
I seem to average about 2,000 a week at the end of the month..
If you ask me, they seem hellbent on turning themselves into a swift with reefers type of outfit..
I'm really thinking of just getting the hell out of trucking..
It's the SOS at other companies too, as a freind of mine says ."the only difference is the color of the trucks" ..I am more and more inclined to belive him on that..
I've worked for a few companies ,and it all seems to be the same..
No one gives a #### about YOUR time, they ignore you or blow you off, and are quick to blame you when things go wrong..
I'm over it..

It's better than ending up on the "wall of shame" they have at their terminals, where they display photographs of wrecked trucks ,post the drivers name and driver number and how much money HE COST THE COMPANY...Never a word about if the driver is o.k or not..
That was pretty revealing for me. Might as well get out now, while I'm still fairly young, than be screwed over if I have a wreck when I'm 50 and can't find a job again..

I'm ready to leave already my truck is BACK in the shop i'm sttuddring up hills and today the clutch went out on me plus air leak problems check engine light going off. sucks cause I was only 150 mils from delv. spent$$ in tolls from WI to NY to delv in Mass. but i just didnt want to take the chance on not being able to slowdn/dnshift didn't feel safe. shop guy got pissed caused i told him I jammed in gear.LOL Had no choice 4 wheeler jumps in front of me on a dnhill I go to dnshift clutch sticks to bottom of floor so i jam it to slow to prevent makin 4 wheeler a pancake @ freightliner now to get fixed in morn maybe just a bad truckin day?? or bad equip. still wanted to know if i would delv. WTF oh could not get anyone on the phone 4 hotel or any other help for that matter if this keeps up...
Well the truck has an air leak which freightliner knows but marten tells them not to fix it I have no cruise or jake brakes and engine light stays on constantly. weird noises come from the engine all the time out side of p-trip post-trip dont know what else to look for. after the "bang" no more studdring but all this. had a flat on inside tire of the trailer that got fixed asap but I guess these are not real problems.

I've just started my 7th year with Marten Transport. It was good at first but now???
I can stretch the logs with the best of them but with the new hos rules I have to change with them. Marten hasn't. I deliver at 8am. I get a load to pick up at 2pm but it will deliver overnight at 5am. When I tell the fm I can't do it I end up sitting till the next day even though I have plenty of hrs on my 70. If this happened occasionally it would be cool but it happens at least once a week.
Lots and Lots of short trips. I may get a trip over 2000 miles once a month
My income is down $10,000. (that's no error) over this time last year.
It's so bad that I had to cash in my vacation pay this month just so I can make my house payment.
Not sure what to do. Marten's Profits are down 42% from this time last year. I'll have to look elsewhere
I could write an essay on all the issues I have, so this is just a taste.
Wed. still waiting on parts for truck. was worst off than I thought something could have caught fire from the clicking noise from engine. could have gotten another truck same kind worst insides but opted for a fixed for sure no pop up issue down the road.

Steering lock, hugh...I've been w/ the same local company (straight from school) for over 3 yrs. now. I bring home over 650.00/wk consistantly. I have had success w/them. I've stayed positive, and worked hard, and for the most part enjoyed driving the big truck....I drive the same route everynight, and think I'd like to go try something else....I am a dog lover, but agree about the pain in the rear...Good luck with your turtle!...I've applied w/ Schneider, Maverick, Arnold, Crete, USA, Roehl, CFI, and Old Castle Glass. I turned down $15/ hr. & Old Castle...USA offered me 35cpm--and I read the threads about them in here...Roehl said "no"..CFI wants 3 mos. OTR experience...So thanks for the insight on the "blue bird" my friend.....How many days a week would you say you drive @ night?
