It has been my experience if something is rejected they mark it off on the bills. Most carriers will NOT allow you to "empty release" until the delivery is finished and the bills signed. I'm not sure how you can "empty release" with product in the trailer. Yes, you should do a visual inspection upon closing the doors. I'm still lost on how you left product and the bills be clear to "empty release". Don't make sense to this old has been reefer pusher!

How did you not see 80 cases of product in your trailer?Dave_in_AZ, bzinger and CrappieJunkie Thank this.

Can be done if you just peek in the back and its a wall of fog in the nose... and don't check the BOL before pulling out of the dockbzinger Thanks this.
-
True....But who is at fault for that?
-
The security guard.Kyle G. and austinmike Thank this.

So not the driver who left the product in the trailer, at the yard, for another driver or shipper to deal with? I always have to inspect my trailer after I move from shippers door, before I hit the security gate....
-
I think security is the last link in the chain. In a place like a Walmart DC you can blame the traffic clerk for not informing the driver. The driver is at fault for not checking the bills or doing a good visual inspection of the trailer. I once had a rejection and the cases rejected were hidden behind some shrink wrap. I missed it until I saw my bills. Any security guard that would allow a trailer to leave with unaccounted for product should be flipping burgers.

The security guard is probably making less money than flipping burgers...
