I use to never go in that scale until I seen a MD DOT sitting in the curve on the ramp for 95s/495.......

I went into a truck check once, got waved on (waving in the rolling fashion means "go" to me) and looked in my mirror a mile down the road to see the weigh wagon chasing me...took all my paperwork and did a u turn i had to go around a ways to get back to his inspection~he had someone else with the hood open by then. Told me I ran from his inspection (I lived 15 miles away at the time and was honest *read young and stupid* enough to tell him I could have gone a dozen different ways to avoid him if I had a reason). He then saw the fmcsa sticker I got in the day or two prior. Realized I was an empty flat (no chance at overweight) and the truck had under 1500 miles new.
Trying not to be the aggressor as he's the one with the gun: I explained that waving me past means I'm not going to pull into your little lane. "the hood on my van was up" means nothing.
I don't always look to dodge scales, but when I do...lol stay thirsty my friends ;)

Thats like the New Mexico scales, gotta watch the scale master's hand. Thumb pointing back means you're good, index finger pointing to the side means park and come inside. This time of year when the NM tax permit needs renewed they do a lot of pointing, lol

I love the Clovis, NM scales sign "If your NM permit is up to date, go. If your NM permit is expired, stop. If you're not sure, ask".

signs on the road, and a big arse parking lot with trucks in it. and a scale house. right off the side of the ramp. and a camera to take a pic of you flipping them the bird.

i don't know how anyone can NOT find it.

there's also a truckstop there though that can be easily accessed. park for a few. and take off.

only way they'll know is if they were to look through the pics and verify that license plate actually checked in.

the smart thing would have been to build that thing a little further down the road.

LOL....reminds me of the first time i blew scales....when san simon scales headed east were still open..(back in the early 90's)...blew san simon, then lordsburg...had on a load of iced down brocolli..86,120....and we drove a bright yellow w900L....with chicken lights galore...they were all on a seperate switch..so turned them off one by one, wound er up..low and behold..LORDSBURG had a DOT man OUTSIDE ......i hit the next ramp...shut the truck off and hid in the sleeper....LOL....stayed there about an hr peekin out the curtains:biggrin_25524:....the boogey man never came to get me tho....:biggrin_2559:

Was going south on 5 back into California and that scale had big yellow sign about bypass photo enforcement. I think it was a year or 2 since I went by the scale on 82 don't remember seeing that sign up over there. So guess people might start getting tickets in the mail or their company taking out the fee from their checks soon.

I can remember blowing a couple scales as a newbie. They both involved late night and fog. One was I-95 entering FL and the other was I-59 in MS down near LA. The FL one I popped out of the fog right at the sign. I hit the brakes but realized it was too late. The MS one was in the fog bank. Both times I got dirty looks :biggrin_25510: and I was like :dontknow:. I think they sense them things. None of them come after me. Dodgers usually run the back roads. The Knoxville scales are easy. If I'm headed up I-75 I know a legal short cut around them. If I'm heading up I-81 or I-40 I'll get in the right lane and let a bunch of trucks pass me and by the time I get there the ramp is full.

Eventually you get to learn them all and the tricks. That's part of being experienced. :)
