That's funny as hell, i very rarely cross scales, better safe than sorry.
Giggles the Original Thanks this. -
scales should be for drivers who have seriuos stuff wrong with their truck, AND KNOW IT....not good , hard working ppl being harrassed for being a lil overweight....i mean really, the only difference between me and a over size load, is just a lilttle piece of paper...sayin he can run...phewey...
i havent ran scales in a few yrs...but when i did, it wasnt cuz i had stuff wrong with my truck or trailer...paperwork was all in order...i was a lil overweight and in most cases the shipper was alrdy closed (last load of the night) and it would be til the next day to take some off....didnt run them on a regular basis...just when nec.....bad mouth me all ya want...still aint gonna change anything...
i do not advise runnin scales....ya gotta know how first...
so ya dont get caught....LOL
7-UP, Logan76 and DozerCowboy Thank this. -
I agree, i run around them when im legal weight just to avoid being hassled...
cadillacdude1975 and Giggles the Original Thank this. -
I75 in GA northbound scale at the 345MM......no operational open or close sign. its been that way for months. its closed now, it was flooded from 8 days of non stop rain 2 weeks back and now there are barricades at the entrance. wah. cry me a river.
but the scale has no decel ramp, and it is a right hand turn off the interstate to an immediate 35 mph. a severe hazard to say the least. the southbound scale has a climbing lane over a half mile long.
i dont know why the open/close sign wasnt working. they got one of those portable signs and programmed it to say bypass when full, but it never said if they were open or closed LOL
before it flooded, i said screw it and just ran the by the thing every time i went north. is that right? no, but the last time i checked i am responsible for the vehicle i drive and im not making a screwball turn in to a scale house on the assumption they might be open. there have been a few drivers ticketed in the past (prepass tickets i would imagine) and they take it to court and beat the ticket. the judge tells the state that drivers can not be stopping on the right of way just to look and see if the weigh station is open.
and other than not stopping, i am 100% legal and usually empty anyways. so i dont sweat it one bit. -
I personally love the bypass when full sign. I probably define full a lot looser than they do.
Logan76, Giggles the Original, Leftlane101 and 2 others Thank this. -
Just keep going, I watched a container go into a Florida scale, get the light to go to the scale, he took the bypass instead, the light turned RED at the bypass by the scale house and he bleww that and kept going and no one ran him down. But I got to pull in and scale my 35,000....... GROSS WEIGHT.
Dinomite Thanks this. -
There are computerized camera systems that take a picture of licence plates as you go thru the scale and I think out on the highway, in some places.
