Thank you, joewispers. Yes, near $10k. I stopped looking on the website after that. It didn't matter how great the reviews were, I was done looking into that school. I believe you were the one who told me that if it feels right, go with your gut. Based off of that, my gut is telling me to go with the school that I have been doing extensive research on. Turns out, a lot of companies hire from this school, because there are schools nation-wide and this one is just a branch.

Yeah, I know. It would have been pretty cool going to school with you. It would have been fun. As you noted, I cannot do it. It'd be cool if I could, but simply cannot. I have been doing research on the W.I.A. Grant a bit. It says that it can take quite some time for it, so I am exploring my other options that this school offers. The school, actually, accepts the W.I.A. Grant; so, thank you for steering me in that direction.

Since we live in NY and you live more upstate then I, have you came across many companies that hire within the NY area? I'm talking more OTR, not so much regionally or locally - due to our distance apart from one another.

Thanks for chiming in again, joewispers!

If you are considering Crete or one of its sister companies (Shaffer & Hunt) make sure you check their website for the list of approved schools otherwise, don't even bother applying with them. They won't touch you for at least a year if you don't go to one of their approved schools.

Thanks for the information. I did know what you said, but appreciate the reminder. I did not know those companies had a list of acceptable schools. I guess I'll have to look closer on their websites.

You got that backwards, i"m downstate of you on Strong Island, Suffolk county, the (Amityville) Horror town. Reason i said that about the school is from what i read it meets or exceed"s what you are looking for, and as far as the certs go someone already said what i would have, the more the better, makes you more employable to the perspective employer, from what i have found out from there site there are only 3 schools in N.Y. state that have the a.c.c.s.c. cred. an the p.t.d.i., so if it"s the one you are looking at and you like what you hear go for it.
As far as the W.I.A. Grant, if you meet the requirements than go for that to, got nothing to loose. Yes there is a list but in all the time you have spent in research would have been time on that list, i personally know a guy who had a D.S.S. appointment and a week latter he was in class. (Don"t get me started on that guy)He is how i found out about the W.I.A., does"t happen to everyone but it happens, i went to the D.O.L. in mid Dec., put on list an now i"m pushing an praying for a 1/20 class, you gotta let them know you rely want it, that your hungry. Yeah it might take a week or a year but you won"t know if your not on it. I personally am looking for local, or regional, or dedicated. and i think i have more selection because of where i am, a lot of hubs on L.I., Queens, Crooklyn, Da Bronx, ect...

You're right, you're right. My bad, you care down state, to me. With the accreditation and certifications, no my school is not on that list, but many carriers/companies accept the schooling of it, as I have called. The director rattled off a few companies that some of their grads get hired by, so I called those companies to verify: it checks out. I will have to look into the W.I.A. Grant a bit further. I've been too caught up in researching every else, that I have forgot about the paying for school aspect. I should probably take a step back, and do such.

What all have you had to do with the W.I.A. Grant process/steps?

A bit, yes. Most of the companies that I am looking at pay reimbursement, which will cover my costs. I may take that route, because I don't wanna jump through a bunch of hoops. It's still a ball-and-toss situation, but I'm exploring my options, since I have time. I may attempt to apply for it, because I know it takes awhile to get the ball rolling. Thanks for the insight and knowledge of the grant, joewispers. At this moment in time, I'm in a crappy situation; so, jumping through these said hoops will be even more challenging. The school I am looking at is sending me some great information regarding paying for schooling. They are doing a really good job so far, probably because they want money! :yes2557:

Nothing in life is easy, you are not the only one in a bad situation, you don"t wana hear my crap, but like i said is"t easy, but if it"s something you rely want, rely want, than you got to fight the good fight, jump through the hoops, crawl , bend over backwards, ect....whatever it takes. If you are not willing to do that than you rely did"t want it that bad, bottom line.
