I appreciate your honesty and insight on the company... how long were you there?
Since I have a few different companies that I've been approved for, lease or company... I would give it a try for a month or so (pretty sure I can get a feel for the company/planners in that time). I think most of it falls on you and the rest on the planners/manager. If they're no good, then you get screwed... if you let it happen too long, it gets worse. Communication is the keyword at every company, let them hear you
Even at my current job, I had to change the manager/planner because I wasn't getting the miles I wanted. But now I'm ready to try something else... just haven't decided completely what yet (flatbeds/skateboards are calling my name also...)
ACT...looking good!

Either way, whatever I decide to do, everyone will know as I will post my new adventures (good/bad).
Ohh yeah... as far as elogs, pretty soon everyone will be on them, so might as well get use to it... I have done maybe a total of 7-8 paper logs in the past two years since the qualcomm went down, so I think I'm use to it and can see if the lease will work or not... -
Looks like Monday is a go.
If they can give me a clean (inside), reliable truck and make the truck roll an average of 357+ paid miles (6 hours of highway driving) a day, that's 2500/wk times 40cpm is $1000. Preferably I'd do that in 5 or 6 days...but does that seem like a reasonable expectation as a driver? (4 x 625 mile loads or 5 x 500 mile loads or 6 x 416.66666 mile loads) What kind of runs do you guys get? What are the typical loads in a week as far as length? Do they give longer runs over the weekend or have it set up with shorter runs to places to pick up and deliver on weekends? I think you guys do a lot of the same customers we dealt with when driving for Glen Moore. I used to see you guys running across Tennessee a lot. Do they require deposits on anything...or charge you for anything? (I am asking all of this for a company driver.) Oh...and do all of the trucks have APUs? ...or what is their idle policy like? Thanks a lot everyone!

Yep all apus. Loads for weekend varies it depends where you are mostly. As for the statement you can't make money on elogs that's what I'm on and I have no recruits everything yousee on my post is accurate and the offer still stands to show it to anyone.

Ive been at ACT for 5 months now and have averaged a little over 1000 dollars a week and about 2300 miles per week.My thread is in Motor Carriers Questions on this site, with all my income, miles, expenses, etc. So far I have no big complaint's.As far as E logs go,Blacklions is correct that every trucking company in the U.S. will be on them before long. With the miles that I run,Elogs would be no big deal, especially if you're already used to them.
Boss Hoss was making around the same as me.I also live in the Fort Worth area and don't get home much.I have no kids and am divorced so hometime does'nt matter to me.That is really the only problem Boss Hoss seems to have had at ACT.As far as getting misled about getting home,I think that by looking at the lanes ACT runs,it's pretty easy to figure out that you can get home alot by location, location, location. If you live on the edge of our running lanes, getting home is alot harder.I know a company driver that lives in Springfield MO and goes home every weekend. Many driver's get by the house alot depending on where they live.
Kujo has been out no more than 9 days and it's because he lives in OKC,where we go thru alot.I've been asked several times if I wanted a load home for the weekend,of course I looked at the miles to see if it would work for me.I agree that the planning of loads could be better, but I also think that could be said of any trucking company.
ACT dispatches loads on first empty first out.I have different feelings about that but in the long run it's the fairest way.Kujo stated that there were 12 trucks in KC waiting on loads, that's our main hub and we have lot's of loads in the area.If they had preplanned drivers coming in there, then some guy's would get the shaft as there might be favoritism from a dispatcher or planner for a driver that was a buddy. So I think the way they do it is best.
As I state in my thread and others have stated here, leasing is not for everybody.I think ACT has the best program for a guy or gal to work for, make decent money and own a nice late model truck after a few years. When over 10% of a 300 truck fleet pays off and get's a title to they're own truck every year, they must be doing something right. -
We'll be finishing up orientation soon (Thursday I think). Can't wait to hit the highway and make some money!
Kujo Thanks this. -

madaxeman Thanks this.

Yeah they are the T660's they only got a few T680's and I the drivers that got those are drivers of the year or month, something like that. They said in orientation that they were not sure if that will get any more T680's or not. Not positive though.
madaxeman Thanks this.
