Currently, the economy has been at its lowest in years and for the most of us, there's a hole burning in our wallet. Even though gas price is low, it does not justify the rate to be the way it is right now. Back in 2008 when we had a organized strike, it was only then that we recieved some notice and given some privllage and respect. However, the shippers and the brokers seem to forget the importance of our job and is screwing us over so they can pocket their money. A lot of us have family, payments to pay and with average $1.2 per mile and hardly any freights, how can any of us survive. A lot of brokers are making a killing right now because they know that there are not much freights around and they can cut the rate however they like because there are just someone that is desperate enough to pull it. People think they can screw us over but they did not realize that "WE ARE THE BLOOD VESSELS ON THE US". Without us pulling freights, materials, etc. The whole country will collapse, IF longshoreman workers can make 80g + per year, why can't we? US needs US and WE NEED TO SHOW THEM THAT THEY NEED US. I know organizing a strike is tough, but it can be done!
