As for this being %.
Nowhere when we book freight does it show %.
We run on a sliding mileage scale.
The % is in name only.
Actual Miles

The question is this:
Why does the trucking industry still use zipcode to zipcode to pay their contractors/drivers?
When we all know that GPS can calculate door step to door step..with a half mile give or take.
ANSWER: They make more money on shorted miles we are driving..as we all SHOULD know.
It's not ethical but everyone just accepts it.
When you search for loads on the load board..do your search as normal..look at what SNI says are the miles then when you book it look at the actual miles THEY provide both loaded and empty.
They are aware of it..their own program is showing you the proof.
Food for thought.
FYI: I started doing this over 18 months ago..the money you we are shorted isn't small but no amount.
Multiply this by all the IC's on Choice and you have significant amount of money being made.jonargal, freightwipper, Jonkie and 1 other person Thank this. -
The deadhead miles are always going to be way short because you're just using estimated zip code searches and the system doesn't calculate routed miles, just miles as the crow flies.
The loaded miles are hit or miss, sometimes it's accurate, other times it's 10% short. But the loaded miles are manually entered so they are following the shortest actual route, not as the crow flies.
One way or the other you know you're getting "misrepresented" but you aren't being paid by the mile. You should already know this and that 10% should be added. -
I know that is how SNI does things, heck I've been here long enough to know alot of the things that happen here at SNI and for now I'm content staying but that doesn't mean I don't care or don't know any better.
I'm mainly posting these numbers just so SNI realizes we as contractors track these things and maybe somewhere down the line it may lead to changes.
It's also a good way for future IC's to see what really happens on a contractors daily runs.againstthewind Thanks this. -
Trucking is always paid by the mile.
If anybody can show me WHERE on the Load Board the % section is please do.Dogals right foot Thanks this. -
Even their GPS route which is the shortest legal truck route per SNI is different than their paid miles on the load board.
They know what they're doing, it's how they maximize profits. It's what I signed up for I know however I didn't sign up to be shut up.
It seems here lately unless you Drink the Kool-aid 100% there's cheerleaders on here who are afraid the facts might come out. -
I do follow the shortest route possible and take that into consideration..I try to give SNI the benefit of the doubt.
On DH miles I could care less as I'm trying to get to the next load.
I don't really care how others look at it..most are happy plugging a long without knowing what is going on.
After all ignorance is bliss.TennMan Thanks this. -
Actually the 65% is in the contract lol, but then again I'm sure somewhere in all of the fine print mumble jumble the fact that brokerage is taking their cut before Schneider takes their 35%, and who know what brokerages commission is (10-20%?)
It's all a racket really. I'll betchya that Chris Lofgren was squirming in his heated leather office throne looking over the settlement statements some of the contractors were pulling in the past couple years and how much money Schneider was losing. How can the peasants be allowed to exploit the company like this?Last edited: Apr 2, 2016

I kind of misread your initial post. The load search shows way shorter, then when you book the load it bumps up the dead head a lot. Then it's another 10% on top of the second number lolTennMan Thanks this.

By using household movers guide , they secure more loads from the customer . My company uses practical miles , often I run less for more .
