My fifth wheel sits a little lower on my truck than it does on my pickup. I ordered the truck with a fifth wheel that slides all the way back over my rear drive axle. Have to use bobtail wiring instead of factory trailer wiring off the tractor because the brake lights on the RV are tied in with turn signals instead of separate circuit like a semi trailer.

Very nice set up. My truck has sliding 5th as well but not sure it would work as good as yours. Mine is most likely a little closer to the front of the frame then the back like yours.

I'm afraid to touch my sliding 5th wheel. Last time I did it took me months to get it back where I liked it.

I can’t believe he’s got a full size cargo trailer hooked to the back of his 5th wheel. Those are generally small receivers for pulling a little bass boat and I’ve never seen one with a plug on the back. Could be added I suppose.

If it’s an older one it might be a little more solid. I know Grand Design has a had a hell of a time with their frame cracking and that was guys just pulling them with a pickup and RV hitch. One of this would get demolished by a heavy duty truck hitch and suspension.

It’s not just grand design it’s pretty much every manufacturer that uses Lipert frames.

The next conversation after figuring out HOW to tow campers/toys with big rigs is where are you going to park them when you get there. If you like to go out west to the desert and enjoy BLM land or if you're happy 'camping' in a truck stop that's one thing but most campgrounds/rv parks aren't friendly to big rigs if it's even possible to get to them. Rules like no commercial vehicles in a NP/SP can shut down your options pretty quickly.

My plan has always been to just tow a Jeep or maybe my campervan behind the rig so I can drop the rig somewhere safe and disappear into the bush from there.
