Adding a dump valve on spread axle

Gonna start cutting tomorrow if the rain is over.Been hauling it out of north ga. the last 6 weeks or so.

Yeah that is what i have been told.I have some going up into ill. next week

 

asked my shop how much to put a dump valve on he said about $400.00 ,think i can figure it out myself

 

I'll do it for $350 ---- plus parts!

 

what i did was add in a valve so i could lift the front axle, so with light loads i could carry it up. my re wired dump valve would only dump when power was applied to it. so i wired it up with a switch, the wire was u at front of trailer already. then i put in a simple cutoff valve that isolated the front two air bags. what i do is drive the front axle up on two 3 inch wooden blocks i made out of 2x6 boards, then dump the air, crawl under the spread use two 2 inch ratchet straps thp hold up axle. just hook em to the crossmember. then cut off the air to the front two bags. crawl out. switch off the dump valve, back off the blocks. and when carried up i get .75 to 1 mpg more.

a little trouble but well worth it with loads of 20,000 pounds and less

 

Do you guy's use your dump valves every time you make tight turns/backs?

I only dump my air on my axles and turn tight when I'm empty, I figure it puts less stress on my trailer that way. When I'm loaded i'll do as many pull up's/back up's as it takes to make my turn and not turn so tight with my trailer.
