If you read appendix E on rulings and decisions , you'll see a ruling that does match using a virtual office. In that ruling they were using an attorneys office as it's established place of business .
Illinois submitted for interpretation of Section 218, established place of business. Illinois
indicated that there were applicants that were using the address of an attorney's office as the
established place of business. Illinois further indicated that a physical inspection indicated that
there were three separate phone numbers, separate offices within an office, and supposedly
separate employees assigned to handle each company's trucking operation. The Board
indicated that these registrants were in compliance.
I'm still reading through other decisions made, but so far that's pretty close to using a virtual office setup. -
Simple solution.
Call your states IRP office and ask if its all good.
Call FMCSA and ask if its all good.
Even better, send letters, get your answers in writing.
Why does it seem like people are afraid to go to the source for answers?DSK333 Thanks this. -
Not afraid, i think were just having a discussion and seeing what others have come up with. Last time i called with an issue the hold time was HUGE and they couldnt answer it and said i would get an email with the answer. Well the email didnt really answer my question either. We finally got an answer but it took some time.BigGee, PoleCrusher and DSK333 Thank this.

My state just says i need to produce a bank statement, utility bill and government document with my new address on it. That's pretty simple and straight forward to me.PoleCrusher and DSK333 Thank this.

I absolutely agree. It's just the IRP manual suggests that the employee can't be a contractor and is to be handling your trucking related business tasks like IFTA, credentialing (whatever that means) and phones. I personally think it's BS and a virtual office should be sufficient but we know how that goes. One must play the game!redoctober83 Thanks this.

Totally. Especially those involved in Law or debt collection. I've had way too many run ins with freaks out on the road that I would never want to know where I called home. Lot's of crazy people out there.PoleCrusher, redoctober83, HopeOverMope and 1 other person Thank this.

That's good news. Especially for those in Illinois.

Yup We got programs like home land security to help with domestic threats yet systems like this are designed to make a small business put ALL their private info public just to do commerce. Where's the home land security in that ?
