Hey this sounds like a great idea. I don't actually know any truckers but-- I'll see who I can find.

Most companies have a "no rider" policy and if the driver gets caught with an unauthorized passenger he may lose his job.

With this in mind you may have difficulty finding someone willing to take a chance by letting you ride along.

Yes that is right MinnPinns MOST COMPANIES have a no rider policy as I stated.

Some companies have a FAMILY RIDER program available which has restriction such as age and time of year AND sometimes require additional rider insurance.

I can only speak of the companies here in the USA that I have researched over the years and to be frank I have found NO company that lets you pick up a stranger.

The pairs you see riding are either husband and wife or actual team drivers. Some drivers MAY be violating their companies policy and "getting away with it."

Oh, I see what you're getting at. No STRANGERS allowed. Yes, I know that one.

If you are an O/O, though, I would think you might be able to do it in this type of case but I don't know for sure.

Yes, no strangers is a policy everywhere far as I know - Canada, too.

Before I even knew about this "add/adhd" thing, I had to train myself to stay focused, just to be on an even playing field with others. It worked well. But put me in a situation when I have constant distractions......like the work I did on the house (What I gave my wife for Christmas), and I end up trying to do 25 things at once and some I never get done.

When I am tired, I stop and sleep. Quite simple, actually.

A lot of people are being misdiagnosed, too, and/or over/under medicated, which just makes everything worse. I know a kid who was diagnosed with it but I was very familiar with his home life and I bet you anything if he had a stable, calm, organized home life, he would have been fine and never been diagnosed with adhd. A lot of people are in such a hurry their houses are always in a state of confusion and rushing around - and I'm sure this doesn't help the kids being raised in them.

I'm pretty sure my son would have been diagnosed with adhd if he'd not been raised by someone like me who stayed home with him, had him in a routine from the time he was a baby, etc. I was very consistent, the house was quiet - it really helps a developing child to be raised in a quiet, stable, consistent, routine household, IMHO.

It sure wasn't perfect here, that's for sure, as I'm divorced now but when it came to the kids, their days were great and I worked on him with his temper and his staying on task since he was around 2 yrs old. He's fine now and has done well in school - he's 17 - but I still think it had something to do with a good environment in which to grow up.

Some definitely have adhd and nothing can help but medication but it's way way way over diagnosed here - it's almost like a cure-all for "bratty" kids. It's not right.

Simple but hard for some people to do. You really need to do this - everyone does - because it's so easy to have an accident when you're tired and your reactions are just not up to par. Good for you for listening closely to your body! :yes2557:
