Find X=0 higher than you plan on using.
Only then would the shunt coil work.
If resonant where you use it, the antenna is too long to use the shunt coil.

So find resonance say on 40 then add shunt....
So i assume i then retune to get my ant tuned to where i want it??
What happens if i wanna use side band and say go a lil above 40 into say 28.100?? -
Shoulda been at it yesterday,it was nice and deciently warm..Today....BURRRRR -
Then don't transmit above 28.1handlebar Thanks this. -
So how does that work for resonance in the middle of the band(19)..If im resonate way up that throws tune off ALOT on lower freq dont it?

Don't mean to be a smart*** Craig but did you figure out what caused the antenna to change?
-
Ridge.....Not done anything yet....Weather has not been my friend..Headed for temple pa in a cpl hrs so i doubt ill get anything done any time soon..

Craig,
As *Ridge suggested, I'd meter the antenna feedpoint with a very short pigtail to eliminate your coax feedline as a factor. Since you mentioned that the change was abrupt, rather than slowly progressing, it's likely your coax has gotten water into the antenna end, or gotten pinched somewhere along its length. Consider replacing the antenna with a dummy load to make sure your coax isn't causing the odd readings. Only then should you go chasing the antenna or base matching as suspect, I believe.
