    Probably because this antenna uses the tuning nail design. I guess Craig could cut the top off of he didn’t mind taking a chance of ruining the antenna.

    Yes craig minds...Cant complain with them results..Best i have seen in ages but it will change on me,always does..
    Had to change out my ant bracket..Th part that clamps on to my mirror bracket was worn just enough that it cant get a good bite..
    Thats all im doin with it for now cause our new crapcadias are due in next month..

    Ya, I would leave it alone too. You could get it a little bit shorter by removing the tuning nail, but then you would have to plug the hole which might not look good either. Then if you ever needed to lengthen it, you run the risk of losing the tuning nail.

    Not hard to cover the hole vs plugging it..I have some of that mouldable tape like tar stuff ment to cover connections..Dont know how much of a diff pulling the nail out all together would do..

    Without making it shorter you might as well forget about the shunt matching coil.

    I dont need a shunt now..im within the 40-50 ohm range which i read was ideal
