If I get a preloaded and sealed trl I set my tandems centered on the 41 foot mark, then go scale. If I can see inside I try to put my mudflaps just under the last pallet. I find I rarely have to readjust more then 1 or 2 holes if any after scaling.

to me it all depends on what state i am in,,, some states have different rules on each axle weight. The gross weight is were you can start getting fines with out any questions or " do overs". I usually don't worry to much if i am 3 or 4 hundred pounds over on any given axle. As long as i have tried to move "slide or adjust" to suit the situation. But i mainly stay in the south also, every state, and every officer at those REVENUE OFFICES will be different.
thehornet Thanks this. -
If you can see the load this is the same way i have done it. Rear tandems at the edge of the load. -
do all the terminals you are picking up from have scales, so you could check out axle weights prior to getting out on the road??
