If someone is doing this to make a check, then I agree, they should do something else. However, I believe EVERYONE should do something they love. So, if you love driving, then go and drive a truck. However, be willing to stand up for yourself. Have a great set of morals, and stand by them. If you know you're hurt, don't be going to work. If they complain about you doing that, then they're not the company for you. It's all about personal choices. It's all on you, the driver, to do what's right for YOU. If the company is crap, don't work for them. End of story. It begins and ends with PERSONAL responsibility.

You hit that nail.. right on the head. That is STRAIGHT ON. I was once outta school..couldn't wait to get in that beautiful KW.. oh boy oh BOY!

Back then, more than now, it is like being a farm hand. It's like a farm hand, a farm worker.

The glitter wore off quickly, in about 5-6 months. All that "safety first" stuff no on gives anything but lip service. You are expected to cheat here, cut a corner there.

I got "Driver of the Month". The TRUTH is.. I could barely drive. I would just do ANYTHING to move that freight.. would do anything they wanted. I'd lie..man no one has lied more than me on logbooks.

If stop doing it.. then you are the BAD GUY. A whiner or whatever. Well count me in whatever group you want.

It begins and ends with PERSONAL responsibility. No truer words have ever been spoken.

:biggrin_2556::biggrin_25523::biggrin_255: Newbie question on why truckers no longer stop etc? Could actually part of that be Qualcomm, cell phones, GPS. help on Interstate freeways. I am sure I would stop if someone asked on CB, waved for help, but now a lot of people (non-OTR) assume people have cell phones etc & get help & do not want help if you stop? Like to believe people are altruistic. OR has that truly vanished. Thank you for your time and God Bless.

i agree with you on some points, but, the qualcom, or a cell phone dont stop you from helping a fellow truck back up in a tight spot, if you know hes or she is haveing a hard time ,, or if a drivers tarping a load, them tarps are heavey and the wind plays hell with them, or asist in throwing a chain or a strap, or if hes haveing issuse with his or her truck in the truck stop to lend a hand or a tool you have incase they dont,,,,it works alot of ways,,,,,,,,,,,,,,being kind can 't be mistaken for being nosy or a smart butt,,,,,,,,,,,,bottom line sometimes a helping hand gos a long way in my book and is not realy forgoten!!!!!

    Uh, it's bad out there.
The low rates/wages have pushed out most of the pros.
Now it's just GO! GO! GO! GO! GO!....hammered down everywhere.
Very little concern for other drivers or the motoring public.
You see alot of poorly maintained equipment, tired drivers, guys 1/2 inch from the back of a minivan....tailgating, boxing, speeding, weaving, etc.
I used to flash people over with my headlights or back off the throttle a bit to help get them over.
    Now I don't even bother.
So many just cut over on you without even using a turn signal....nevermind the courtesy of flashing you back.
It was bad when I started 11 years ago...it just keeps getting worse with each passing year.
Cost of maintaining equipment goes up, insurance goes up, diesel goes up, cost of food, clothing, health insurance, etc up, up, up...but miles/rates/wages stay the same or go down.
And will continue to do so with each passing year...:biggrin_25513:
