Don't know who you're talking to, obviously not me though.

####, I must be doing it all wrong then. It's the easiest job I've ever had.

    Hey, old thread rejuvinated.

Lot's of good comments here. I wasn't putting down trucking, I've been doing it a while, and it is what I want to do. I've quit a couple of times, but I always come back, because it does get "in your blood".

The OP was on a day when I had read, and heard in person, so many complaints about what were/are just part of trucking.

some people can make good money in trucking, even in bad times, we started off doing badly in this recesion and are now doing better than ever..

and you don't need to be on the road for weeks at a time either, all our trucks are home every day or every other day, and our drivers make more money than being otr

If you only work for those big otr outfits that pay peanuts and have so many drivers that they just treat you like a number, I can understand why you would hate it

Most drivers I see complaining are the ones who work for these cheap companies making less money after 5 years then I made starting out in the industry. Also they are the ones that are in debt up to there eyeballs because of poor decisions and horrible money management. Also those are the drivers you see running across I-40 trying to get to the casinos to spend next weeks pay and then some even though they have taken an advance of say 500 bucks for the week there in and they are going to compplain about there pay check being so small for the week.

Stay on the road, dont go gambling at all these casinos, be wise with your money, know how and where to spend it and dont be a fool. Keep a good work ethic and a strong attitude and think about why your out there driving(to make a living) and you will do good.

Most turn to trucking because they think of the big money and the freedom of the open road.

Then they find out the money comes from working from before sunrise to after the sun goes down. 5 o'clock never comes. The freedom is everyone looking over your shoulder waiting for you to mess up. It's one of the few jobs in the country where an innocent mistake can make you broke and possible land you in jail. Then you deal with the conjested traffic, the irrate customers and lying dispatchers.

If you can overlook all that and take it all in stride, then you can enjoy all the fun of trucking around every corner!

Look at it this way: could any of you guys and gals picture yourself working in retail or riding an office chair for 9 hrs. a day. even if i'm on the slickest nastiest road or hand unloading a full trailer in 100 deg. heat, i wouldnt trade jobs with alot of poeple i know. trucking is by far the most entertaining! 24/7 its a Circus!
