thats was the year they created a cdl i think.
trucking in the old days was fun, trucking now is fun to depends on what you do ,who you work for and what you want.
tried it both ways for a company that made me go where they wanted me to go,worked for a company that let me choose where to go.
worked as a o/o or lease picked and cold called loads to fill my wagon up.
still want that shiny 290 with a window in the back or a one stack mack with a window in the back.
think about all the trucking companys that use dac to get your drivers record but dont use dac to report you worked there.

I agree. I have my 2 year exit strategy in place. I'll still keep my CDL after I leave trucking, but I won't be coming back to it to make money, that's for sure. I have more important things to do, like enjoy my wife and kids more.Paddington, danny_379 and MarineNewRookie Thank this. -
Why the handle/call sign & do you have other threads on Healthy or how you define that please?? Thanks a lot!!

But this Hispanic American named David knows what is going on and he doesn't like it at all. He has asked the illegals what they are going to do when ALL the Americans get mad as hell at the same time. When Americans are standing in the unemployment line watching the illegal drive by in his new pickup on the way to work.
David tells them that when that day comes, the illegals will gladly be willing to head south and face the Mexican Police and Drug Gangs because they will be more merciful than an American population that has come to understand their country has been raffled out from under them. An American population filled with Ex Soldiers, Army Rangers, Marines, Navy Seals and maybe a few Special Ops members.
So be encouraged, there are still a few out there that are understanding where we are headed. And many are Americans who just happen to be Hispanic.
And BTW for all you who are about to jump on me for being "racist". It is time to put your big boy pants on and grow up. I have plenty of Latino friends that I cherish...Most don't like foreigners taking over the country either. -
The OP is correct !!!!!!!!!!!
With a 80% plus failure rate, why even tempt fate !!!!!
You'll most likely end up in worst shape (financialy and emotionaly) than when you began checking into trucking.Paddington and diesel_weasel Thank this. -
This is an interesting thread. I'm currently in the IT field and we're facing the samething, rates/salary going down and companies bringing in Indians to do the same job as I do but for a cheaper rate/salary. This process is happening in every industry. Because of the outsourcing, and after 20 yrs in IT, I no longer like it, so I'm leaving the field. Yes I'm getting my CDL's, (I don't drive now). Its something that I've always wanted to do and unlike some of the noob's, I've been OTR with friends and fam members, I have many friends that are in the industry, so I talk them, so I'm not going into it as a true NUB (not having a clue about what to expect like some), and the ones I talk to tell me horror stories from bad companies, dist centers, produce houses, etc, and then they tell me some good things as well about the industry.
Every job has pros and cons and you the individual have control of what you make of it all. No job out there is a dream job, everyone hates their job at some point in time no matter what it is. Currently I hate my IT gig so I'm leaving it, so my point is, if you don't like what your doing, then leave, find something else to do.
Just my 2 cents -
A lot of my younger friends are just entering the job market with good degrees from good institutions and are only finding jobs in their field that will hire them on a "contract basis". In plain English for everyone that means you're not an actual employee of the company and most importantly that means no benefits.
Is this something that you're seeing in IT? -
