Read about how all the mega trucking co schools treat their students/drivers. There's a thread postes by someone named gamee, while its an odd read, it highlights how CR England may possibly act. Also, search YouTube for CRE rap video...that in itself should make you go wtf.

You're right. Go for the "Career Training II" program.
"Career Training I" is ok, but don't think you need that. It costs an extra $1000.00 but if the state is paying, because you're laid off, then do it if you want.

First day of school, submit applications online. Submit as many as you want, the more the better.
By doing this, you'll start receiving job offers within days, which gives you plenty of time to choose one before graduation.

So just getting the license and then looking for work isn’t a good idea? I’m worried that no one will hire me if I have no driving experience or hours.

Western Express will hire you with only a license and no school or a short school.
With the "Career Training" program you'll have a dozen choices for OTR jobs the day you graduate. Most companies want 160 hours or more.
Don't worry about employment; companies will be fighting for you with that "Career Training" program.
The school will probably try to push you into some company, but you can usually do better than what the school's job placement offers.

    plankton Thanks this.

Don't worry about that. The fact is even with having a cdl already there is a whole host of companies that will have you on a bus to orentation tomorrow.

That list only gets bigger and higher quality as you earn your cdl and some experience.

    Chinatown Thanks this.

Yeah he probably wont have a fat wallet going there... Unless he keeps IOUs there.

Plenty of good companies to start with though.

If I didnt have to go the company contract route I probably would have went with Freymiller.

But my contract with FFE worked out great. Still there for now. If I want to continue teaming probably move to R&L. Lone Star was looking pretty good for flatbed, or DOT for reefer pays solo guys well but I think the runs are short.

You won't have that problem as long as the school is 160 hours or longer.

LoneStar is owned by Daeske, as is Schilli. Funny thing is, I never used to see LoneStar trucks loading where the Schilli trucks do, then here in the last month or so, there they are. Tells me their freight base is shrinking. Its also cutting into my companys freight base.
