I happen to have had an awesome trainer. He took his job seriously, and didnt put just another steering wheel holder on the road. Not all trainers are jerks. The few jerks make the real ones look bad. Many of the trainers at my company are worth their weight in gold. Our company pays more per student the better they do on their exit "exam". The trainers who never get the bonus are quickly weeded out. If you are uncomfortable with your trainer, they'll get you another one. For my company, safety is the priority, and they put a lot of money where their mouth is.
All you can do is be honest with your first pick companies, and give them a chance to answer. There are companies out there who will give you a chance if you give them a reason to.

Your job history is self employed. For my company, I needed to get a couple of affidavit letters from customers who could verify that I was actually self employed. I did web sites for 20 years, so no job history. The company i work for impresses me more every day. They need to get 5 years of job history, so if you have ppl who are willing to accept a phone call to verify your business, and write you a letter (and get it notarized) then you're golden. Unless you have tax records to prove it, that might be enough.

You sound like the perfect candidate to drive over the road. If you like solitude and being alone, that's for you. You can save alot of money in a short period of time doing that to build up that savings.

For me, the question would be, if either company is forced teams or not.
Some people don't want to team after training is complete.

I am going to be blogging my journey, as I have signed up to become a OTR driver. I have signed up through a train and drive company in Wisconsin. Could you all share some of the companies you have had good experiences with? I’ve seen a lot of them.
Chinatown Thanks this.
