Also the question is now irrelevant as I don’t think I will be driving a box truck, the deal I had fell through. So what would my options be for cdl, there’s a couple local jobs that hire with no experience.

Attend a cdl school and get a CDL, then start the job search. Can get a CDL at 18 yrs. old.

Ok, my same questions apply. How do you plan on paying a driver when the profit won’t be there only running one truck? And what kind of experienced driver will take the chance on someone who’s never been in the industry or driven before? Your hiring pool will be people that are unable to work for better carriers for one reason or another. Someone with 10+ years of experience that won’t destroy your equipment won’t be willing to take a chance working for a new carrier with one truck that gets loads off the spot market.

It wouldn’t be immediately I’m talking in a year or 2, providing self driving electric trucks haven’t taken over. And as I said, I wouldn’t be the average mega carrier hire who has never thrown a strap. I have tied down loads, run forklifts, excavators, loaders etc just about everything but actually drive a semi on the road. I also have my grandpa to ask who had a fleet of trucks. And who said anything about spot market?

Join the Navy as a CB/EO (equipment operator)

Save OTR trucking .until you’re old, divorced, miserable and Chic’s no longer dig you.

Seriously, I have a son your age and if he ever mentions that he wants to drive trucks I’ll knock him the fluff out :)

My son went into the SeaBee's as an EO. Did one hitch and came out as EO2. Took his DD-214 to the DMV and was given a CDL-A. Don't know if it's that simple now.

    Edit:
He was in Cuba waiting to deploy to the Middle East. Having a drink and listening to the band in the Enlisted Mens Club.
Some cute female Navy girl kept giving him the eye, so he started talking to her. Another female Navy girl walked over to him and said, "Get away from her, she' mine and if I see you talking to her again I'm going to kick your @##." He said, "Yeah, OK" and walked away. I told him that was the best way to handle that situation.
