Yup and something else that helps is this stuff. https://www.amazon.com/Prestone-AS2...t=&hvlocphy=9023165&hvtargid=pla-570151014709 it typically lowers the percentage of water in the wash while boosting achohol and i think methanol percentages. I typically use it with the prestone -34 stuff and it seems pretty effective at deiceing. Also have a paintcan with a pint of pure methanol that lives on my catwalk where a leak wont poison me to death that i can fortify the fluid with when it gets below -40. More or less vaporizes the ice but is toxic as all getout so i try really really hard to not be in a position where i need it.Another Canadian driver and hope not dumb twucker Thank this.

Use shorter wiper blades 2 to 3 inches shorter and the winter blades have rubber over the blade. The shorter blades will not go over the curve of the windshield where the ice starts to build up. Also I have a smaller scraper that I can flip the blade out and dislodge the ice when it happens.

Those heated blades have mixed reviews. I looked into them and decided to do what always worked. Winter/ice remover washer fluid and my arm out the window.

You'll see at various places a tool about a foot long designed to pull valve caps off inner tires. Those are great for using to pop the wipers. Their much easier to reach that way, just hold them in the wipers path and push them forward once the wiper pops on top of them.

Everblades. 3rd year with original blades. (Take them off for summer) Metal frames can still get iced up if you don't zip tie the lead wires along the arm

Lots and lots of good winter rated windshield washer fluid. Add a quart of 90% isopropyl Alcohol to your washer fluid every time you put in a gallon of fluid.... Works wonders.

Winter blades and defroster working in good condition.
Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
I've used everblades for 7 years. A few times a winter in the right conditions they are lifesavers, most of the time just handy. They do stop the lump of ice forming at the tip of the blade that lifts them farther and farther off the screen as it builds in size, i hate that! Freezing rain or fast falling snow can still build up on the screen but generally they do work. They're silicone so don't cope with rain x or anything like that, and are best changed out in the spring to avoid wear.
I used to use those cheapo blades with the rubber sleeve over them and most of the time they worked perfectly well and are a lot less expensive.Another Canadian driver and Hammer166 Thank this. -
I always kept the cab as cold as I would feel comfortable (you should be wearing layers in the cold anyway). A cab temp in the 40s will work wonders at not allowing wipers to freeze, as everything that hits remains frozen instead of hitting, melting, then re-freezing.
tscottme and Another Canadian driver Thank this.
