Yea i did have 2 train but with each company but with 2nd company they told me 5 weeks i had 2 leave because my house caught on fire i was in my 4th week the company in with now i really didn't have to train on driving portion i had to learn how to drive a 13 spd i understand your frustration i did what i had to take care of my family while i was training i lived off of Roman noodles i lost 50lbs because i was sending all my money home noodles and water was my diet your husband should call crete see if they will take him since he's a month and half in trk already he may not have to train long because i hear that with covenant you have to team for 6 months i had friend to start there he left during training and now works for transam he went out for 4wks training. I suggest start calling companies they like hearing a driver is not satisfied with company they will try and get him i no its scary but it necessary money is what we need to provide fir our families. It was worth me changing companies now in at .40mi pay in March im gone be at .41mi good luck but make some calls u would be surprised

Thank you so much for your advise. They were out 6 weeks for "phase 1", now they are on "phase 2" and that is supposed to last 180 days or yes 6 months. That is NOT going to happen!! They have mislead them so much that it crazy. They told them once they passed there hazmat they're pay would be $700 a week +.02 mile GUARANTEED! Now it's once they get their hard copies. They were told .18cpm without hazmat, now it's .16cpm. If it's .16cpm then that's fine(we didn't go into this field looking to get rich, just to have a better, more stable life especially for our kids), but tell me that from the beginning so I can better plan. Oh and the GUARANTEED $700 that's not til the hard copy comes too, not what they were told to start with. I know that no company is perfect, but going through this with them is making us scared that we are going to go to another company and go through the same thing all over again. That's why I'm on here, trying my best to get some experienced advise and not have this happen all over again. And EVERYONE on here has been EXTREMELY helpful and I'm actually starting to feel like there is a chance we can actually pull out of this and go to something better!!!! Thanks so much!!! Stay safe!!

One more thing if u and your husband decide to go to different company don't quit covenant til he is ready to board bus for next orientation. I have heard that covenant screws up people dac reports. This way it want be too much of break in money coming in. Have u called prime in Springfield mo, seriously tucking companies would take your husband in a heartbeat. If u start today he would be in orientation Monday he can take bus from covenant. Make sure they have a 6-8 week program before he go. It may take a couple of trys to land at a good spot ah yea try ptl, i don't no where u stay but tyson has a training program they start newbies out at .39 0-3 years experience

Maverick Transportation. In the glass business unit, he'll be making at least .48cpm once he gets his truck. Orientation pay is $500 on your first paycheck, then $550/wk til he gets his own truck. After taxes its like $499, but still better than what he's getting now. The whole maverick team is awesome and work hard to help their drivers out. The equipment is state of the art, and if he doesnt mind workin hard, then he'll get paid well. They also have regular flatbed and reefer business units. Give them a call, its totally worth it. Best of luck!

All this "Phase this" and "Phase that", is just a way to keep teams in the trucks. All companies have a brief training period to familarize a new driver with company/customer policy, but 2 or 3 weeks is plenty of time for that. missjhawk mentioned PTL, yes they will hire him & it's a pretty good company, but the good money is with tanker & some flatbed.

WOW! I know I said it earlier but THANK YOU sooooo much!!! You guys are wonderful!!! "The secretary", that's me, has alot of work to do tomorrow!!! Definitely putting in apps and making calls starting first thing in the morning. I just talked to my husband a few minutes ago and after they got to where they were supposed to pick up a load, they got a message saying the load was canceled. That's 3 in 3 days, is that normal in the industry??? They have managed to get a whole 800 miles since leaving out Friday morning, maybe it's just me but at .16cpm that's not paying any bills and now he's sitting again. I guess I'm just new to this, I don't remember when my uncle started driving(was just a baby) but I know as long as I can remember his wheels were always running(that was back before all the DOT regs and computer logs) I guess I'm basing too much on that. I just know my man is dying to go, he just wants to run the wheels off, and it's killing him just sitting and watching other Covenant trucks pull out and of course he can't get in touch with ANYONE in dispatch(I guess that's what they call it) to find out what is going on. He wanted me to ask if anyone on here know anything about Windy Hill, they called him to drive for them. Thanks again to ALL of you for all your input, advise, and recommendations they have helped us ALOT!!! Wish I could send you all steaks, but as you already know that ain't happening at least not on Covenant pay!!! LOL

I'm going through the same pains working for the pumpkin people. I do not have the screwed up pay, but short runs, poor weekly checks, nothing but hassle of the weekends. I've read through this whole thing and will be looking at the same companies. I need to get to my 1yr mark for sure, but I don't think new drivers should have to suffer to get there.

Make sure whatever company he is interested in sees his school as accredited. If he jumps at covenant to find he can't get hired by next company because his course isn't recognized you guys will be right back at square 1.

But if he leaves now expect 2 weeks without pay. A lot of student orientations can take between 3-5 days with no/low pay and usually end at the companies cut off for payroll.

Windy Hill runs live plants/flowers between Florida and Wisconsin and in between. He would make more money than with Covenant.

He really needs to put endorsements to work for a significant pay jump.
