I do appreciate your reply, in response to this this is the scenario I am in. Prior to being brought on as an apprentice I made a down payment to a cdl but with so many delays and no contact at all I decided the company paid route, coincidentally I Finally have heard from the state this week! And they should issue funding for me to start June 17th. Additionally, I start the apprentice role June 3rd, and after having spoke with the company if I obtain my license outside of their realm, there would be no contract and I would then convert over to a driver position opposed to an apprentice. Of course they would still help me get my hazmat, tanker endorsements. And he said they MAY pay for me to go to that school vs going to work for those 2 weeks of training. Is this a win/win? Assuming the school is accredited I believe he said but I believe it's private

Scenario 1 : March 2024
Found private CDL school for$3K
Made down payment of $1500, state agrees to pay the rest.
State funding delayed until June 17
Scenario 2: June 2024
Propane outfit offers apprentice job, says we MAY pay for your school, but nothing in writing.
Dont' realize that air brake /hazmat/tanker endorsement can be obtained by taking tests at DMV and then having fingerprints done.

Who said I wasn't aware you're able to obtain hazmat, tanker, and air brake from the bmv? If I went to CDL school before and had a class A CLP back in 2021 I'm well aware. But with the not in writing part you are correct about that he asked me for information regarding the school to see if it MAY fall under being accredited then he would expand upon the being paid to go to the schools course. Additionally id assume and can almost guarantee most companies who require hazmat and tanker would require experience, this place would give that. With no contract if you got your CDL yourself

Also that was not the most sound advice. If I wanted an opinion on class A I would've definitely mentioned it. But it's out of context based on my current situation, again I have NO interest in a class A for now so by mentioning or trying to convince someone to get it what's the point? Considering I've went that route. Not ruling it out entirely but for now I have zero interest, you can make great money with a class B let me guess you think that's impossible

OK, now I see. I have slight dyslexia so I had to reorganize the info.

Basically if you get your own CDL on your time you have no contract to be obligated to. You will then receive their company training but not as an apprentice but as an actual driver if that makes sense. You'd have a higher start rate and obtain the other endorsements through them ideally free

I stand by my quote

Sure thing but as it doesn't relate to anything some opinions are best kept. Probably wouldn't hurt to read and not piggy back
