    Picked up a load for them in pa and delivery scheduled for Friday before noon in tx .
    Now broker said that customer dropped the ball and delivery is monday with $500 layover.
    Any other broker - no problem , not sure how to deal with landstar ... Looks like its double brokered ( bol from different broker )

    If they are the ones that dropped the ball id be charging way more then $500 for me to sit there an extra 3 days.... The broker doesnt determine my rate for somebody elses f up... If they arent willing to budge... Then you have to make a decision, either take what money they give you for "layover" or decide not to put up with their #### and take the load back where it came from. then invoice the entire amount plus the return trip... You will most likely have to fight that in court to get paid...but let them know those are their options , either pay what i charge to layover or turn this into a huge cluster #### that is going to haunt you for along time and you are most likely going to lose your customer over it.

    see what they say ...that is where id start with it and go from there...you have to make a decision of what you are willing to put up with and deal with in the long run... There is no wrong answers here, because everybodys bs meter taps out at different points..

    This is just my opinion and the direction i would take it. .. I dont claim to know anything about anything..

    Keep us updated with what you decide and how it goes

    Call the broker on the BOL's, tell them what you're going to do. If they thought it was going on a Landstar truck they may step up.

    Note: Unless you just accept the 500, Landstar will put you on a DNU. Just laugh and tell them it's been done by better people than them.

    Or
    And
    @Dave_in_AZ.
    Personally, I'd show up when the BOL says to, and charge detention (always moist and delicious), from then on.

    I guess it's ignorant to ask at this point what was agreed upon before the load was taken, in regard to detention and layover.

    So that horse has left the building.

    Just ask for an updated freight bill with the layover, and new appointment time on it.

    Called the broker and he never cared and said its part of the business.
    I replied that i am leaving for family vacation on sunday and trailer will be sitting for 14 days and i have 0 desire to miss it. ... Same result .. he said its his customer ... After calling shipper : shipper confirmed that landstar is not the one on the contract and before the contract been created - fri/sat/sun - no deliveries at all . Shipper was pissed off on double brokerage and landstar called me within 25 min telling me no pay , jail time , inappropriate work ethic etc ... Did hang up on broker and i said you lied atleast twice ... Another 10 min broker send rate con with updated address ... ( I mentioned him that riggers are existing in tx and its up to you how you want it resolved ... Not my first time )
    Lets see if everything will be the way i plan !

    I'd still be calling whoever the broker is on the BOL's. Had one like that a few months ago. Original broker paid for it. If you seldom use Landstar who cares what they think/say/do.
