Hey guys, new to the forum and I’m also new to owning my own rig. I’m just looking for advice in general but mostly advice on what to do with my new (to me) truck so I’ll give you a short background on the truck. (Bare with me I’m no diesel mechanic)
I have Recently invested in an 82’ Kenworth W900A that’s also half 2006 Freightliner from mid frame back, and let’s just say it’s a less than professional job. So to start with I know that needs attention and is going to the shop over the winter to be redone. Aside from that the NTC-350 motor runs great from what I can tell with just over a million on the truck and I don’t have any idea about the motor internals other than I’m waiting on the results of an oil analysis. It has an Eaton 13 speed in it that seems to shift fine other than the actuator seeming a little slow on the hi/lo switch. Maybe needs cleaned?
Other than that I could use some small parts like gauges and a steering bracket, but I haven’t been able to find any real good source on parts just yet. Anyway all I plan to do with the truck is haul mostly gravel locally and maybe some longer runs in the winter when work slows down but no over the road. I’m curious as to what you guys would do with the truck whether it be scrap it or build it for show. I appreciate any advice or comments you guys have to offer about my new investment. Heres some pictures I have of it from today.

I personally think those A models are the nicest looking trucks ever made, so definitely not scrap in my mind.
stwik and slickWillie1980 Thank this. -
I agree 100% I’m going to build it back up for work regardless. -

With a two year old and a newborn that’s not a lot unfortunately. But I do plan on getting it back on the road hopefully by spring time. -

Haha another Kenliner (or is it Freightworth?)
Nice ride. There might be a filter in the transmission air pressure regulator that could be plugged up, causing lazy shift. The exhaust port being plugged can cause that too.
What steering bracket are you looking for?Cottonmouth85 Thanks this. -

Unless you want to buy used, you will need a steering bracket fab'd up which isn't hard to do for someone who is a certified welder.
Gauges?
What are you looking for?
