I would personally go Roehl if they will hire you. It is a 1 year contract and you have to pay for lodging, food, and transportation though. It cost more than other companies that way but I have heard its a good starter company and they respect you.

jhr i would deff look into FFE! I've been doing my research on every company and there schools as i'm looking to get into the industry. To bad for me FFE only accepts people in there school that lives somewhere around there texas area. I'm in New York so thats a lost for me and a gain for you since you live in Texas. Look into it, good luck

I am too doing research of companies starter companies that is where you go through them for your training and license. All starter companies arn't bad yes there is good and bad with all of them as you will find out. Also alot of the negative reviews and comments are from people who couldn't make it or failed a piss test ,lied about something on there application ect. and they were fired or sent home. I will tell you from what I have learned stay away from CR-England,CRST and Werner who is also known as the Big Blue Screw don't even apply or look at these companies all are bad very bad. It is all up to you on what you do and who you go with, but you have to start somewhere. I am in the same boat as you unemployed and broke so I am going company training and one yr. commitment to pay for school/training plus you need the one yr. OTR for a local job or another company with better pay, miles ect. Stevens has a very good program to go to but to pay off the 6,000 the school, advances, hotel ect. is 3 yrs. not 1.Another I am seriously looking at that is good is Driver Solutions either Pam Transport or USA-Truck also Swift is good to. So is FFE that is in Texas very good look at them seriously they pay for your training have good pay and all they ask is a one yr. contract without pay deductions for the school. Millis is also very good. Trucking Truth.com is good for info too and there you can find out about the company paid training from different companies they review all of the starter companies. What ever you do remember someone is always here to help and keep and open mind too and ask questions, also when you do get with a company take all loads don't complain or be rude be nice and you will get good pay and all the miles you want plus if you are cool with your DM he will get you the miles and get you home when you need.It is give and take you work with him he will work with you ask any driver about that. This is also why drivers quit or complain they don't get miles ect or get fired for safety issues ect.Hope this helps.
