Okay, got home and started looking at the companies mentioned so far. Western Express, Celadon, Jones Bros, and Maverick all run flatbeds, so I just finished applying to those 4. I figure I'll give them a couple days, then call their recruiting office and see where I stand. And if none of them are interested, I've got 12 more on my list to try.

Update. 3 recruiters called me today.

A lady from Maverick, we talked about what I was looking for, then we went over my history and she said it'll take 5 business days to process my app and then it goes to the hiring committee, so she'll get back to me Tues or Wed with news.

A man from Western Express called, he asked when I wanted to leave, then told me he'd set a provisional date and send my application to processing.

A lady from Celadon called, but somehow thought I still needed to get my CDL. When I told her I had one already she transferred me over to another recruiter, who emailed me a link to another application (I must have filled something out wrong) and he told me to fill it out after work and call him tomorrow.

So, at least there's movement. Have to call Celadon tomorrow, and If I don't hear from Jones Bros I'll call their recruiting office Monday. I had a deeper look at the Maverick website on my lunch break and they look like a pretty nice outfit. Decent pay during training, nice trucks (with APU's and inverters, thanks for the heads up there Chinatown) and a better starting rate than the other places I've seen. I would be pretty happy if they said yes.

    A bad update.

Called Celadon recruiter, he asked me a few questions then said he'd try and get my app processed today. He just called me back and said I was declined because the job a had before my current temp job says I worked there but didn't drive for them. (Which is crap). Which explains why companies have been declining me, they think I'm lying about my work history. So Maverick, Western Express, and Jones Bros will decline me too.

So I wasted my chance with 5 companies already. Really frustrating.

All I can do now is change my apps to say I didn't drive for those jerks and try the next couple on my list.

I didn't see your latest post about being decline due to "didn't drive for us."

I believe TMC gets home most weekends if you can do flatbed.

Check out Watkins Shepard trucking, they hire with misdemeanors I know and felonies especially from that long ago. Really good company to work for, and have all kinds of home time options. Also check out Big M transportation. Fairly small company based out of Blue MOuntain, MS think probably somewhere in the 400 truck range. Very nice trucks apu, all auto volvos, freight liners and macks and mostly new. And they are not afraid to put a new hire in a new truck.

If Western Express will take you, then do it. Stay 6 months then move on.

^^ I've met many a good man started at Western. Most recent one Dale drives for Sapa, the elite arm of Knight.

Thanks. I'll add them to the list.
Unfortunately I put on my app that I drove for my job before my current one (which I did, otherwise they paid for a DOT physical and a couple drug test over the years for no reason) and according to the Celadon recruiter they said I didn't drive when I worked there. So I have to assume that Western Express is gonna check and then decline me on account of them thinking I'm lying.

I mean, I'm gonna call the recruiter back this week to check and if they yes I'll jump at it (I can put up with #### near anything for 6-12 months) but right now I'm assuming the worst. I applied at the next 4 on my list and just said I didn't drive for the jerks. We'll see if any of them call me tomorrow.
